These gameboards are "closed" gameboards. You can make these work in your favor by setting up the guidelines ahead of time. Students can continue to play round and round the board until the time is up. Put a small pile of tokens such as cubes in the center and they can collect one for each lap they make if you want a way to keep score. Or, you can state that the games are over after a player has made 5 rounds, or however you choose.

This super sight word game is a great way to get your little super heroes excited about reading! Game cards include pre-primer, primer, first grade, and second grade Dolch sight words, each marked for easy differentiation based on level. Download, print, laminate, and cut the cards and spinner. Students will spin and land on a number (one or two to practice as many words as possible). Some spaces say "draw 2." That means the student will draw and read two cards. On "action" spaces, you get to choose what the student can do. Use these spaces as an extra turn, lose a turn, or a battle! In a battle, each student can choose a card and attempt to read it. This is a virtual escape room to complete with your students after reading Dr. Seuss's The Lorax. Students will be answering comprehension questions about the story and also having to fill in the blanks for some sight/spelling words. Students could complete this in groups or as individuals.

I would recommend giving students 30 minutes to complete this escape room and displaying that timer in your classroom or on your screen somehow. The only things students will need are a device and maybe a whiteboard or paper for taking notes while they complete the escape room. I hope you enjoy it. Please rate and review.

It's Memory!... but with... emoji sight words?

I know, I know... I went off in a different direction with this one. But it was too good of an idea to pass up! I might make more like it!

Students can practice random emoji sight words like "house", "zebra", or "heart" to their pictures in this player vs player or player vs computer game. Cards randomly generate using a choice of about 50 words and pictures.

NOTE: The video is to show how the game works. This copy isn't math based. It uses random sight words and pictures, not math equations.

Features:

* Players can play the computer or another player!

* Computer generates a different combination of pictures and words for you each game; it knows when students are right or wrong.

* A simple computer AI adds a challenge to the game. It keeps track of cards that have already been flipped and knows when they match. Sometimes it chooses to not match, simulating that it "forget".

* Four different robot card backs! They range from R.O.B., the friendly robot, to the out of control Zoe. Players can choose their favorite!

Directions

Rolling the Die:

• Students roll a six-sided die to determine which sentence they will read.
• Students can also scan the QR code on the worksheet using a device with a QR code scanner to access a virtual dice roller.

Reading the Sentence:

• Students match the number rolled with the corresponding sentence on their worksheet.
• Students read the sentence out loud clearly and fluently.
• Students should focus on pronouncing each word correctly and using appropriate expressions.

Marking Progress:

• Once students read a sentence, they should highlight or color the box. They could also cover it with a counter or place marker etc.
