Students will also learn about plant stems and why they are important to a plant, how they benefit a plant, help a plant grow, transport sugars through the plant, etc. Students will also learn, in detail how stems from plants contain 2 important kinds of tissue - phloem and xylem. Students will learn that water moves upward in plants because of three things - root pressure, cohesion, and transpiration. Students will also learn how gravity is beneficial in plants.

Throughout the product, students will complete short answer comprehension questions, fill in the blank questions using a key, labeling a diagram based on what was presented on phloem and xylem and another diagram on transpiration, evaporation, root pressure, cohesion, and gravity.

Photosynthesis is the method through which green plants and some other organisms convert light energy into chemical energy. In green plants, light energy is absorbed during photosynthesis and utilized to transform water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and organic compounds rich in energy.

It would be unthinkable to undervalue the significance of photosynthesis in sustaining life on Earth. If photosynthesis stopped, there would quickly be minimal food or other organic materials on Earth. The majority of organisms would vanish, and eventually Earth's atmosphere would be almost lacking in gaseous oxygen. The only organisms that could survive in such conditions would be chemosynthetic bacteria, which can harness the chemical energy from specific inorganic compounds and are therefore independent of light energy conversion.

Utilize this useful lesson plan to instruct your students on the process of photosynthesis. Numerous activities are included, intended to take approximately 90 minutes. Photocopiable worksheets for students and their answers are also included at the end.

This fun and colorful picture sort is ideal for teaching students about animal classifications and groups! This can be used in a center, for small groups, whole class, or independently! Students are asked to sort animal picture cards into the following categories: mammals, birds, fish, insects, and reptiles/amphibians. Can be modified for younger grades (sorting, matching, grouping) and be used in upper grades (classifications, animal groupings, similar characteristics).

Throughout the product, students will answer short answer comprehension questions and fill in the blank questions to ensure comprehension after reviewing notes. At the end of this product, there is a template for students to complete the reptiles and amphibians research report. Students will choose two reptiles and two amphibians and research facts about them, find out where they live, what color they are, how long they live for, and the kind of climate the reptile/amphibian lives in.
