WHAT IS A DIORAMA?

A diorama is a 3D scene designed to depict a particular topic or concept. These miniature scenes are assembled using various materials layered together, often within a shoebox or similar container, to visually represent different aspects of the chosen subject.

Students can construct a diorama by cutting, coloring, painting, and gluing different components inside the box. This allows them to create models that convey specific scenarios like historical events or animals in their habitats. They can enhance their scenes by incorporating natural elements like grass, sand, or twigs.

While these dioramas don't come with strict assembly guidelines, students should familiarize themselves with the subject first and then creatively use provided materials to design their unique diorama. This hands-on activity encourages learning in a fun and engaging way.

SIMPLY PRINT - Print the pieces on sturdy cardstock and allow students to explore as an extension of their lesson plans.

This product includes quick notes for students who should focus on the important details of the life processes of plants.

Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this product include: food for plants, leaves, roots, flowers, stems, the different types of leaves - broadleaf, needle like leaves, and succulent leaves, two root systems - taproots and fibrous roots, bark, pine trees, and fruit trees, different kinds of stems - woods stems, thick stems, soft stems, photosynthesis, chlorophyll, chloroplasts, and the process of photosynthesis.

These notes can also be used as adapted notes for students who need more support. This packet includes notes, questions that relate with the notes, and a fill in the blank question packet that is based on what was reviewed in the notes.

Students will learn about adaptations in this product that includes adapted notes, review, and an adaptations project template. Adaptations will be covered in this lesson as well and will cover – camouflage, warning coloration, and mimicry.

In this product, students will have the opportunity to answer comprehension questions, complete drawings based on a diagram or picture provided, and answer fill in the blank questions using a key based on previously learned adaptations vocabulary words. Students can complete these questions independently, in a group, or with help.

Students are provided with an Adaptations Product template at the end of the product. Students will choose one adaptation that was learned about: camouflage, warning coloration, and mimicry, and will use the internet/Google to search for an animal that uses one of these adaptations to survive. Students will answer short answer questions, circle pictures, and draw a picture of their animal.

⭐Cover the NGSS about life cycles while reading about TICKS! Students will also learn a little bit about Lyme Disease and how to protect themselves from this growing problem. This booklet comes in two sizes. This is a great group read and discussion for first and second graders. It is an independent read for third and fourth grades. There two posters with pictures of ticks and even the bulls-eye rash. There are Lyme Disease prevention tips for the teacher if you decide to share these.
