This is a math mystery that is aligned to the 4th grade Engage NY and Eureka math module 6 on decimals. This resource would also be a great for review of area for 4th grade students prior to the state test. This resource includes a scenario, a suspect list, 5 clues that students will solve to find the culprit and answers keys to all pages. Decimal skills practiced in this are: adding & subtracting decimals, ordering decimals from least to greatest, decimal notation, adding money, comparing decimals.

This resource would be great to use as a review before the end of module assessment, before state tests, on the days leading up to a school break so new materials isn't being introduced yet, as a math lesson to leave for a substitute teacher, use individual clues as daily center work over the course of a week, etc. This resource also has an end of year theme with the prospect of moving onto the next grade being on the line occurring in the storyline and suspect list.

My students absolutely love doing these! They especially love predicting who the culprit is prior to beginning the clues to see if they could guess it correctly!

This product is a digital puzzle that requires students to complete 25 equations using the decimal notation to write the answer as a decimal. The link to the digital puzzle is on a clickable PDF that you would download once purchased. Students will put the answers in the answer box. This activity is no prep and is self checking. If the student puts the correct answer in, the answer box will turn green and a piece of the digital puzzle will appear in the green box to the right. If the student puts in the wrong answer, the answer box will turn red and no puzzle piece will appear.
