Drawing Art: Observational Pumpkins. Fall/Autumn.
By Art Shack by JB
Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Observational Pumpkin Drawing was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I placed several plastic pumpkins and gourds at each set of tables for students to look at and draw. Students practiced drawing/coloring pumpkins and gourds in their sketchbooks or on small paper first. Next, students started a Final Copy drawing of one observational pumpkin and one gourd on 11 x 17-inch paper (horizontal). Students used oil pastels and watercolor paint. Plan to do this unit during the fall, between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
Painting Art: Spooky Structures. Fall/Autumn.
By Art Shack by JB
Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Spooky Structures Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to brainstorm in their sketchbook first. Students were asked to choose a Spooky Structure: school, hotel, house, church, etc. Students learned how to use a ruler and yardstick for measurements. Once the drawing was on Final Copy Paper, students may color and paint with the appropriate art materials. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
Drawing Art: Ghostly Self Portraits. Fall/Autumn.
By Art Shack by JB
Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Ghostly Self Portraits Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use grey newsprint paper if you have it, but if you do not you could use white drawing paper (if you give the white paper a grey-ish look ahead of time). I used pencil to sketch everything out in student sketchbooks and on final copy newsprint paper. I used black crayon OR black oil pastel (depending on grade level) to first outline the major features of the pencil drawing. The older students used oil pastels. After outlining, white crayon OR white oil pastels were used for the self-portrait eyes, and a few other areas. Pattern was a focus throughout the composition whether it showed up on the person or in the background. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

Halloween Bingo Vocabulary Game (Regular Size - 30 Boards) 10% Off
By Reading Club Fun
This high-quality bingo game offers a fun, active way to foster spelling, vocabulary, and listening skills.
Comes with:
• 30 different playing boards
• 50 calling cards with illustrations, vocabulary words and the letter of the column they are in
• Quick Look Key – laminate and mark off to keep track of what cards were called. Helps to quickly verify winners.
• BONUS: Free Halloween word search puzzle to warm kids up on the vocabulary used in the bingo game
How it works:
The caller shuffles the calling cards to mix them up, then reads the top calling card. It has 2 parts:
1. A spelling tip to help kids locate the column to look in. For example: "This word starts with the letter 'S'." This guides the player to look in the "S" column.
2. The definition or clue, required to find the picture and its name (the vocabulary).
When a player has covered 5 illustrations in a row horizontally, vertically or on a diagonal, they call out "Bingo!" and the caller checks their board.
This is a great game for a whole-class activity, or to put in a classroom center for kids to work on in small groups.
We also offer MONSTER-SIZE HALLOWEEN BINGO for large groups. Same as above, but comes with 60 different playing boards!
Concepts Explored: Halloween | bingo | game | vocabulary | spelling | listening skills | class | classroom activity | holiday | party games | fun
