The Chapter Book Response Sheets can be used with any chapter book. This product comes with 14 different response sheets-students can complete a response sheet after each chapter or after several chapters. These response sheets are ideal for Literature Circles, Independent Read, Homework, etc. Each response sheet focuses on different concepts that are aligned with Common Core. Below are suggestions for the use of the Chapter Book Response Sheets:

Literature Circles- Students can use the response sheet after each chapter or every couple of chapters. The concepts covered can be used as discussion pieces during Literature Circle.

Independent Read- Students can use these response sheets to keep their reading skills and memory fresh while reading a chapter book. They can keep their response sheets in order and have a study guide to look back on at the end of the book.

Homework- Students can be assigned one or more chapters, and do a response sheet for homework.

~ Stink and the Incredible Super-Galactic Jawbreaker is a wonderful book to reinforce letter writing, idioms, and friendships. This literature unit is a great guided reading group study. ~The format is half page. Copy front/back, staple together. My students love the half page booklet format. ~Included in the unit: -comprehension questions for each chapter -idiom project ~ I use this unit with one of my guided reading groups. The unit will last about a week or two. Tornado poke cards are a great independent, partner or guided reading group comprehension activity. My students love the poke card process and enjoy checking each other when they answer questions. The poke cards are self checking. Students will answer the question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization.

Second graders enjoy a good Stink Moody story. Just enough gross stuff for the boys and just enough humor for everyone! Stink books appeal to 3rd and 4th grade students also! Guided reading groups are a great time to work on fluency, word recognition, and phonics skills. Students will love working with the teacher in a close, small group setting. Stink and the Shark Sleepover is book nine in the Stink series. The format is half page (my students LOVE the smaller booklet format). I copy the pages single sided. This allows a blank side for further word work or notes I may want the students to write down. Included in the packet: -comprehension questions for each chapter -word work tasks (verbs, adjectives, compound words, two-syllable words) Stink and the Shark Sleepover is an AR level 3.2 book. Many questions also elicit story recall responses. ~Included in the unit: -vocabulary for the book -comprehension questions for each chapter -simile and metaphor activity -extension project – The Great Sled Race game ~ When I use this unit with one of my guided reading groups, the unit can last from a week to two weeks depending on how often the group meets. My guided reading groups also set their own expectations/assignments for completing their books. Sometimes students work with partner to complete assigned chapters. ~The extension project is a wonderful culminating project for the book. Students use the game board and guidelines to create their own original Sled Race game. ~ The Case of the Great Sled Race is an AR level 2.9 book.

Stink is off to Shakespeare camp!  Sword fights, poison, insults all add to Stink’s fun adventure.  Your students will giggle as they read about the Shakespeare camp activities.

This book study is a perfect companion for students to complete as they read.  Many questions are open ended and spark discussion. The product format is half page (my students LOVE the smaller booklet format).  The half page packets can be easily tucked inside the book. The small size also saves paper!
