4th Grade Presidents' Day Projects

These easy to use, no prep, substitution plans give you an ideal back up plan to have ready in your classroom just in case. The bundle contains six close reading activities about key areas of the War of Independence, two biography writing units and two informational writing units. Ideal for emergency sub plans in third grade or fourth grade.

Firstly, there are six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• The Boston Tea Party
• An Overview of the American Revolutionary War
• The Siege of Boston
• The Battles of Trenton & Princeton
• The Treaty of Paris
• George Washington

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are two biography writing units about George Washington and King George III, and two informational writing units about the War of Independence and the Boston Tea Party. The units have been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

This interactive Flip Book craft and activity featuring George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt is a no-prep, printable close reading activity that's geared toward middle school and high school. President's Day in the United States is a time for us to think about the leaders of our country in the past. It's a day to remember and honor those who have helped shape America's history and make it what it is today. This activity is fun and easy way to celebrate President's Day in your classroom.

Students will read the article titled "Remembering Leaders and Legacies" which honors four important historical presidents. After reading, students will construct a flipbook and answer a reading comprehension question about each president. All answers can be found in the article! After that, students may color their flip books and present to a partner. This truly is an all-in-one activity!

This product includes a research report template. Students will answer the following questions: name of president, when the president was born, when the president died, how many years in office the president was, how many terms the president served, who the vice president was at the time the president was in office, two challenges the president faced, two accomplishments the president achieved, and three interesting facts that were learned. There is a section for students to print out a picture or draw a picture of the president. At the end of the template, there is a section for resources as well. Signs are provided for each question throughout the template.

There is an example provided at the end of the template as well that includes information about George Washington.

The students finished product could be made into a vertical poster (as seen in the thumbnail photo) and glue the black sections to the back of each page or cut the templates out and create a booklet.

A biography writing project about Barack Obama, the former U.S. President. The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade. Students will learn about the famous figure whilst working on their comprehension skills and developing their creative writing.
