Christmas Writing Around the World: An Interactive Experience for Year 3-6 Students
"Christmas Writing Around the World" is a fun, interactive map tool designed to immerse students in the festive traditions of Christmas from various global perspectives. This engaging digital experience allows students to explore and discover Christmas traditions from six countries: Australia, USA, Canada, Mexico, France, and the UK.
This simple Christmas activity lets students click on the markers scattered around these countries, revealing a story from the perspective of a child in that specific location. Each story details their unique Christmas traditions, foods, and other special aspects of their holiday celebration, including what the weather is like during Christmas. Students will get to learn about the warm, sunny Christmas in Australia, the snowy festivities in Canada, and the charming customs in Mexico, France, the USA, and the UK.
As they navigate the map, students can zoom in and out, making the experience more interactive and engaging. Each click reveals a vivid and authentic account of Christmas celebrations, allowing students to compare and contrast different cultural practices and understand the diversity of holiday traditions around the world.
To use this resource, simply download the HTML file and either upload it to the students' drive for individual exploration or present it as a whole-class activity. The texts are easy to read for Year 3-6 students, making it the perfect introduction for a project, study, or for comprehension questions.
This activity serves as an excellent introduction to recount writing, providing students with inspiring examples for their back-to-school holiday writing projects. By reading these captivating stories, students can learn how to structure their own recounts, incorporating details about traditions, foods, and special moments.
"Christmas Writing Around the World" not only broadens students' cultural understanding but also enhances their global awareness and recount writing skills. They will delight in the colourful tales of Christmas celebrations from around the world, making it a memorable and enjoyable learning experience that brings the joy and spirit of Christmas into the classroom.

This is a set of posters that covers 7 classifications of animals: amphibians, reptiles, insects, mammals, birds, fish, and spiders.
The first poster features one animal and a list of basic features that animals in that group have. The second poster shows several animals from that group and lists common animals found in that group. It also lists unusual animals in the group to stimulate student's thinking; especially if they are going to do report writing. There is a worksheet on which students can compare animal groups as well as a suggested video that they can watch to gather information from while filling out the worksheet.
