Fractions Jeopardy Game: Engaging and Editable

How to Play:

1. Divide your students into up to 5 teams.
2. Play the PowerPoint presentation.
3. On slide number 3 (HOME), you'll find 25 banknotes ranging from $100 to $500. Clicking on any of them will lead you to a different question.

Answering the Fraction Question:

• The question remains the same throughout ("What fraction of this shape is colored?"), but the colored portion of the shape changes each time.
• To reveal the answer, click on the girl at the bottom of the slide. A new slide will appear, presenting the answer in four different ways:
  • The shape divided into equal parts, with the fraction represented in each.
  • The addition of all colored equal parts (e.g., 1/3 + 1/3=?).
  • The result represented in numbers (e.g., 2/3).
  • The result represented in words (e.g., two-thirds).

Intenta ser el primero en llegar exactamente a la casilla 36 y no caer en las bombas ya que te harán retroceder. Si aterrizas al comienzo de las flechas avanzarás muchas casillas. Happy Halloween! Children look forward to Halloween to explore the world of all that is scary in a safe way. The Spooky Walk is a call-and-response style seated marching yoga game to get kids in the Halloween spirit. It has been one of the most popular activities of all my years of teaching. I hope you love it!

When we do this song and game, we get to explore the emotion of being afraid in a safe space. You can take the time to explain that it’s all pretend and give kids practice with the vocabulary related Halloween and being afraid. Words such as scary, ghost, escape, safety, and pretend are all good words to practice prior to this activity. If you have very young or extra sensitive kids, please take the time to make sure they feel safe and know this is just pretend prior to starting.

In yoga, the Yamas and Niyamas are a moral code of conduct—a guideline on how to live. Together the Yamas and Niyamas help us make careful decisions about how to think, speak, and behave. This foundational thinking prepares children to form healthy relationships with themselves and others.

Yamas include five (5) guidelines that support how we become a good friend to others, the world, and ourselves. Niyamas describe the principles of being a good person. Through them, we build character to us along our path to becoming who we know we truly can be. We learn mindfulness and self-discipline so we can be good citizens in the world.

These lessons plans can be used as a complete yoga class following the FGKY teaching methodology, or can be used in the home, easily adapted for the school classroom or clinical settings.

Using this 10-lesson unit, adults  (parent, teacher, or clinician) can facilitate conversations, games, activities, and yoga experiences that give children concrete information about each of the Yamas and Niyamas.
