Titanic Disaster BOOM Cards™ Digital Escape Room Activity

By Creative Primary Literacy

A BOOM Cards™ Escape Room Activity about the famous Titanic disaster of 1911. The self-marking, NO PREP activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in fifth grade or sixth grade.

The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room.

Included in this resource:

  • A PDF with a link to the BOOM Cards™ Activity

⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻

This resource is great for:

  • Distance learning
  • Independent work
  • Homework
  • Guided reading sessions
  • Team building lessons
  • Emergency sub plans
  • Reading interventions

Ideal for distance learning, the activity can be completed on tablets, phones or computers.

⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻

For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about the Titanic and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about the 1900s, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.

Speaking and writing prompt activity cards for Thanksgiving - How do you

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Speaking / writing question cards for Thanksgiving - How do you..?

This set of intermediate ESL conversation prompt cards will have your students talking to each other in English. Of course, they can also be used with native speakers to spark lively conversations or as journal prompts about Thanksgiving. Each and every card is unique and makes your students think about how to do things in detail in English. Some are more advanced than others. Just print them, cut them out, and then sort them into stacks of different levels of difficulty for years and years of no-prep activities. The cards are in English only.

This resource is included in my Thanksgiving bundle.

This activity is perfect for small groups or as a whole class activity. Use these cards as a review and vocabulary builder An easy to project PDF with only one card per page is included in case you want to work on the questions as a class without printing and cutting out the cards. Encourage your students to give a thorough complete answer and use the question as a basis for discussion. If the question is "How do you build a snowman", there should be a discussion, not a one line answer "with snow.." These questions are great for essay writing as well!

ex: " I love building snowmen! In fact, I wish it would snow more, so I could make one more often! When it snows a lot, at least two inches or more, I put on my winter clothes and my gloves and head to the park. There I start by...." and so on. It's a really fun activity.

Just click here to follow my store!

Click here for more resources in English.

Included:

30 question cards

Easy to project PDF file (one card per page)

There are many ways you can use this set of cards:

➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.

➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity or ice breaker with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out their answers including reasons for their preferences.

➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.

➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

➤ Great resource for tutoring sessions.

➤ You can also use it as a writing exercise!

Help your students practice the important social skill of apologizing with this engaging resource! This set includes 20 age-appropriate apologizing scenarios written for early elementary students. Each scenario is realistic and relatable to everyday classroom, recess, and home situations that students actually experience.

Students will practice identifying feelings, recognizing the impact of their actions, and thinking about positive ways to make things right. These scenarios help build empathy, problem-solving, and communication skills — all while keeping students engaged in realistic situations they understand.

To support different learning needs, the scenarios come in a variety of lengths — some short and simple for developing readers, and others slightly longer for learners ready to handle more detail and context.

What’s Included

This resource is super flexible and comes in multiple formats so you can use it in the way that works best for your classroom:

20 Apologizing Scenario Task Cards (Color & B&W)

This resource includes 20 Scenario Task Cards, available in both color and black-and-white, with and without pre-set questions.

**▶️ With Questions: **Each card presents a realistic, relatable scenario along with three guiding reflection or discussion questions to spark conversation.

**▶️ Without Questions: **Flexible cards that can be used for open-ended reflection, journaling, or teacher-led discussion. Teachers—and even students—can create their own questions or activities to go with the scenarios.

✅ Use the Task Cards in whole-class discussions, guided small groups, partner interactions, or individual sessions with a teacher, counselor, or parent/guardian.

✅ Incorporate the no-question version to encourage creativity and deeper thinking by having students or teachers generate their own discussion prompts.

✅ Print on regular or glossy paper, laminate for durability, and place on a binder ring for easy organization and repeated use.

▶️ 20 Scenario Worksheets WITH Questions

This variation includes 20 Apologizing Scenario Worksheets with lines for student responses along with corresponding questions.

▶️ 20 Scenario Worksheets WITHOUT Questions

This resource includes 20 Apologizing Scenario Worksheets with lines and no pre-set questions, allowing students to write their own questions and giving you the flexibility to generate questions for them. The worksheets provide space for you to create your own questions or prompts, and in Google Slides, you can generate and type your questions before sharing the document or slides with students for their responses.

▶️ List of Scenarios (Easy Access for Teachers)

Additionally, there are two LISTS OF SCENARIOS (with and without questions) for teachers to easily review and select scenarios to work with. These scenarios align with those presented in the Task Cards and Worksheets.

For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about the outbreak of the war and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about World War II, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.
