Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Observational Pumpkin Drawing was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. For this assignment, I placed several plastic pumpkins and gourds at each set of tables for students to look at and draw. Students practiced drawing/coloring pumpkins and gourds in their sketchbooks or on small paper first. Next, students started a Final Copy drawing of one observational pumpkin and one gourd on 11 x 17-inch paper (horizontal). Students used oil pastels and watercolor paint. Math Order of Operations Pixel Art Group Game
By Matemaths
Engage your students with this fun no-prep, and self-checking order of operations group game activity. Students will practice order of operations while playing a group game using Google Sheets. I used it as a sub-plan in eighth grade and the kids loved it. As they correctly answer the questions a mystery picture will be revealed.
How to play:
Player 1 starts by solving their first problem and typing the answer in the first box of their answer section. If the answer is correct, the box will turn green. If it is incorrect, the box will remain red and Player 2 will answer their first problem. Continue taking turns until one of the players completes the mystery picture and wins the game!
Student responses won’t be visible so if a player has the opportunity to answer a question that was previously answered incorrectly, they can’t see that answer.
It’s a great way to introduce additional problems for
· Back to School test review and prep
· Additional materials for remediation
· Lesson plan activity for substitute teachers
Three versions are included, ten questions each version:
- easy: no parentheses and no exponents;
- intermediate: with parentheses and exponents;
- challenging: with parentheses and exponents.
Solutions are included for your convenience.
Suitable for IB MYP Middle Years Programme.

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Fall/Winter Birch Tree Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use watercolor paper for this unit, since it does the best job of absorbing and working with the watercolor paint. However, if watercolor paper is not at your disposal, please find the heaviest white drawing paper you can find. Painter’s Tape is also best for this assignment, but in a pinch, you may use masking tape- although masking tape may need to be stuck to a different surface (shirt/), it isn’t too sticky on the paper. I hope you have as much fun with this artwork as I have! I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
