The book, The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes - Every Cloud has a Silver Lining is a great book for students. Abby is figuring out who she is, what she likes, not giving up and persevering through difficult situations, how to feel a sense of self accomplishment and being proud of who she is, which is a great read for students as they figure out these parts of their life. The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text and each chapter. Students will have the opportunity to answer questions about the main character, Abby and what she is dealing with as she navigates school as well as students own experiences. The graphic novel, Sweet Valley Twins - Best Friends - The Graphic Novel by Nicole Andelfinger is great for children ages 9 - 15 years old, as they can relate with the characters. This is a book about friendship, getting along with siblings, developing interests, finding oneself, bullying, being a good friend, and being yourself as students navigate middle and high school. As students are learning the ULTIMATE 260 - 4th grade sight words in this product, they will be provided with each word, an example of the word used in a sentence, and the opportunity to make up a sentence themselves using the word. I find that with my students who are Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL, when they make up sentences using each newly learned sight word, it helps them to remember how to spell the word, the meaning, and how it is used. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they can include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the 4th grade sight word booklet that matches each sentence they come up with. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. This booklet is rather lengthy, so instead of printing it out, you can display it for the entire class to see as well. This booklet is perfect for students that are on grade level as well as students who require instructional information to be adapted.
