For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Ancient Egypt and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about the ancient civilization, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.

This webquest / Internet scavenger hunt is a perfect one day activity for middle schoolers to learn more about the Wright Brothers and their inventions with these fun questions. It is appropriate for middle school social studies/history, science, or technology classes.

The lesson includes the student handout and an answer key, along with a short list of sites that teachers can provide to students to help with the quest if they choose. This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Forms, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and is easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.

Time allowance to complete:

5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.

40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)

Time allowance to assess:

A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.

Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the gmail account where you wish to store the activity. In the past teachers have downloaded resources into their school account in error. Thanks :)

This webquest / Internet scavenger hunt is a perfect one day activity for middle schoolers to learn more about Leonardo DaVinci and his inventions with these fun questions. It is appropriate for middle school social studies/history, science, or technology classes.

The lesson includes the student handout and an answer key, along with a short list of sites that teachers can provide to students to help with the quest if they choose. There are also some additional links to sites if teachers want to expand the lesson. Two versions of the WebQuest are included to let teachers print the questions or to provide them digitally as an interactive page in an editable Microsoft PowerPoint file. Additionally, a word search puzzle with answer key is included, perfect for early finishers or to use as a part of the lesson.
