Scratch is a really easy to learn language to learn which makes it perfect for beginners. Block based coding looks very simple at first, but it is just as intricate as a keyed language. The difference is that coders don't need to memorize complex syntax to use it. This makes it perfect for younger kids; but it's still complex enough for older students.

Create Your Own Interactive Story Creative Writing & Technology Animation

Learning about Animation using Adobe Flash | Distance Learning

Learning about Animation teaches students the history and basic concepts of animation prior to them creating their own animation utilizing Adobe Flash. Another animation program could be substituted, but would require some changes to the directions for those portions of the unit.
Students being by doing guided research about the history of animation and presenting their findings in a PowerPoint or Prezi. Next, they learn about the twelve principles of animation by completing a worksheet. There is also a quiz over this material. With this knowledge about animation, students are ready to start creating their own. A short lesson on basic animation in Adobe Flash with students first watching the teacher create a bouncing ball and then completing it themselves from written directions and a tutorial, followed by another practice hands-on activity to add to and reinforce skills, leads to the culminating activity of the unit – to create a cartoon using their skills in Adobe Flash.

Engineering Careers Research - Digital Notebook | Distance Learning

This fully editable, Engineering Career Research Notebook allows students to explore 15 different engineering careers. Teachers digitally send students the page(s) they need for the lesson via Google Drive (or other file sharing) or through a LMS such as Google Classroom or Edmodo. Students then add the specific career sheet to their file (digital notebook) and complete, following the teacher’s instructions. Great Inventions - Media Bundle: Radio, TV & The Internet | Distance Learning

In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about the invention of three media sources: radio, television, and the Internet as they complete several projects including a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about each of the topics. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuests for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper. Also included with this lesson is an editable acrostic puzzle that can be printed for students or completed on the computer (file provided in MS Word which can be opened in Google Docs if you prefer). It includes two versions of the puzzle for differentiation and an answer key, which is perfect for early finishers or as a part of the lesson. Creating a Student Success Guidebook (brochure project) gives students an opportunity to share their knowledge and tips for success in middle school with the following year’s new incoming class of students. Next, they create one page of a brochure with their information which will finally be combined with the other teams’ pages to create a full brochure that can be published and distributed to incoming students. The project was created for 8th graders but could easily be adapted to use with 5th or 6th graders leaving elementary school and providing tips for success to new elementary students, or could be used by sophomores (or above) in high school to create a success guide for incoming high school freshmen.
