3D Printing Name Block Directions for Solidworks

Here's a quick, easy project for your students IF YOU HAVE SOLIDWORKS software in your classroom. These directions take you step by step creating a block, adding text, and cutting the image out to prepare for 3D print.
**If you don't have SOLIDWORKS, these may not work for you.**
Graphic Design Projects using the Web 2.0 Tool Canva | Distance Learning

Creative Projects in Canva utilizes the free Web 2.0 tool www.canva.com which allows students to create a variety of graphic based projects such as magazine covers, posters, greeting cards, photo collages and lots more. No download is required to use the product, making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning.
In these lessons, students are provided with a quick tutorial, as well as links to other resources to help them with their designs. The tutorial is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations.
There are three projects included with this lesson to allow the teacher and student a choice in how to demonstrate knowledge of Canva. Use one, all three, or let students choose!
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

In this lesson, students reflect on people and things they are thankful for and create a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides to showcase that information. This lesson encourages students to think about the positive things in their lives and promotes being grateful for what they have. This is a great activity for any class during the Thanksgiving holidays. This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary grades or high school as well.

What's Inside the Computer?: Learning about the Parts of the Computer

Inside the Computer: Identifying Parts of the Computer project helps students understand what is inside the computer as well as where peripheral devices plug into the computer. Used in conjunction with learning how to do their own troubleshooting, this is a perfect introduction lesson for a technology class, or any class that is using 1:1 technology.
As an introduction to the lesson, the teacher can show a short video about the computer’s interior parts (included in the resources), or let students examine the parts of an open computer in the classroom. Obtain an old computer that can be touched without concern for damage either from an old computer you may have or ask parents for a donation. In my classes, we use both the video and the hands-on activity since students love taking things apart!
The second part of the introduction involves showing students where things plug into the computer. This is a great start to helping them become more independent computer users by learning how to troubleshoot basic problems with their computers to make sure the peripheral device is plugged in! Again, demonstrating on an actual computer in the classroom is best as the exact locations for plugging in varies by computer.
Finally, have students demonstrate their understanding by completing the two worksheets included. Depending on time and your preference, they can complete labeling the parts inside the computer after the first portion of the introduction and then complete the second part of the worksheet that has them label where things are plugged in after you review that with them. Or, if you prefer, you can do both parts of the introduction and then let them complete both worksheets at the same time. Worksheets are editable and students can complete them on the computer or you can print them and let them complete them if you prefer.
The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be adapted for upper elementary or high school students.

This lesson allows students to use Microsoft Word, Google Docs or Canva to create a printable Valentine’s Day card. A complete, step-by-step instruction guide is included for Microsoft Word, a Quick Start Guide is included for Canva, and links are also provided to online tutorials for Google Docs and Canva. Also included are the project expectations and a grading rubric. This is a fun, creative project that reinforces technology skills while inspiring creativity in students. Different software options allow teachers to utilize available resources, give students a choice of which software they would like to use, and encourage new learning skills. The lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could easily be used in upper elementary or high school as well. All files are editable.

Students choose the landmarks they will research and then choose the software they will use to showcase their research. This lesson focuses on the innovations and inventions that are borne from tragedy, specifically as it relates to 9/11. This is perfect for technology class or for use in a Social Studies or History classroom that wants to incorporate technology with a lesson for Patriot Day, September 11th.
Students work in pairs or small groups to create a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) about some of the things that were invented because of the disaster that occurred on 9/11 after researching them. NASA Space Race -Women Behind the Scenes Webquest & Puzzle | Distance Learning

In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about the NASA’s Space Race and the women behind the scenes as they complete several projects including a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper. Also included with this lesson is a word search puzzle which is perfect for early finishers or as a part of the lesson.
This lesson is intended to be an introduction to the topic and was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in high school as well. This lesson could be used in a history or technology class, as an activity during Black History Month or Women's History Month, and is also a great lesson to leave for a substitute teacher!
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Create a Video using Animoto | Distance Learning

Creative Projects in Animoto utilizes the free Web 2.0 tool www.animoto.com which allows students to create and edit videos online and then share their finished product. No download is required to use the product, making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning.
In these lessons, students are provided with a quick tutorial, as well as links to other resources to help them with their projects. The tutorial is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations.
Also included is a list of 12 easy project ideas to allow the teacher and student a choice in how to demonstrate knowledge of Animoto and the lesson content. Use one or let students choose from several! General project instructions and expectations, along with a grading rubric are also included.
