This product is a digital puzzle that requires students to complete 25 converting mixed numbers and improper fractions to each other. The link to the digital puzzle is on a clickable PDF that you would download once purchased. Students will put the answers in the answer box (numerator/denominator or whole number fraction). This activity is no prep and is self checking. If the student puts the correct answer in, the answer box will turn green and a piece of the digital puzzle will appear in the green box to the right. If the student puts in the wrong answer, the answer box will turn red and no puzzle piece will appear. These number line problems range from extremely accessible to very challenging for even my highest students. They gradually take students through different rational number concepts and strategies while working on a number line. This really helped my 6th graders better understand the magnitude of fractions, mixed numbers and decimals and how to place numbers on the positive and negative side of the number line. It promoted great discussions in the student groups.

It includes 4 pages of student worksheets or thin slicing problems with an answer key.

This is a very engaging activity that gets all students thinking and talking about the mean, median, mode, range and the shape of distributions. I use this activity the day after covering mean, median, mode, range, and skewed right/left.

Each student chooses an envelope out of 3 color choices. For example, they can choose from yellow, red, or blue envelopes.​

Each "round" one piece of information is revealed and students are allowed to trade their envelopes with each other with the goal of ending up with the highest number. ​

​

The pieces of information they can choose to be revealed are the mean, median, mode, range, and shape of the distribution. ​As more information is revealed they have more opportunities to trade, using the information provided to determine the best color to have at the end.
