What is Physical Fitness Adapted Notes and Review

In this product about physical fitness, students will learn about the different sports and activities that they can participate in, students will learn about the benefits of physical activity, blood pressure - things that can increase blood pressure and what blood pressure is, health fitness reviews - heart, lungs, muscles, and joints and how to maintain each of these is reviewed, cardiorespiratory endurance and the meaning is reviewed, what the heart rate is and students will also learn how to determine their heart rate, students will learn how they can improve cardiorespiratory endurance at home or in school, students will also learn what muscular endurance is, how to improve it, and the benefits of improving muscular endurance, what is flexibility and examples of how to be flexible, what is body composition, fat tissue, and lean tissue and how they are important in the body, students will learn about muscular strength and what they can do to improve muscular strength. Students will also learn about the 6 major fitness skills are, their meanings, and examples - agility, balance, coordination, reaction time, speed, and power, what the President's challenge is and what events are included in this event are all covered. Different kinds of workouts are discussed and reviewed along with examples - low-intensity physical activities, moderate-intensity physical activities, and vigorous-intensity physical activities and how they differ from each other, aerobic activities and examples, the process of a workout is reviewed - the warm up, target heart rate, specific exercises, training, overload, progression, and frequency, and what each of these terms mean. Students will also learn what FIIT means - Frequency, intensity, time, and type of exercise, and the importance of setting health goals - students will have time to do this in this product.

Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions that relate with the material that is carried out on each slide. Students can complete this as a group, independently, with a partner.

For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

Both activities follow a similar format, with slight variances to the BOOM Cards version to allow the resource to be digital and self-marking.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Jackie Robinson and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about important sporting events in US history, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about key events from sport, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.
