This is a set of Valentines Day Reading Comprehension Passages with Multiple Choice Questions. It consists of 3 engaging and informative reading comprehension passages about Valentine’s Day, each with 10 multiple choice questions. The passages are designed for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, but they can also be used by 6th-grade students.

The passages are:

• The Story of St. Valentine: This passage tells the legend of how St. Valentine became the patron saint of love and romance. Students will learn about his life, his deeds, and his martyrdom.

♣ Print out 1 Valentine's Day sudoku per student.

♣ Students cut off the right side of the sheet along the dotted line and cut out the missing sudoku pictures. They glue them into the sudoku grid so that all 6 Valentine's Day words appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame.

♣ Each Valentine's Day word must appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame only once.

♣ Check with the whole class - students have to name in English all pictures in the given row, column or 2x3 frame.

This lesson allows students to use Microsoft Word, Google Docs or Canva to create a printable Valentine’s Day card. A complete, step-by-step instruction guide is included for Microsoft Word, a Quick Start Guide is included for Canva, and links are also provided to online tutorials for Google Docs and Canva. Also included are the project expectations and a grading rubric. This is a fun, creative project that reinforces technology skills while inspiring creativity in students. Different software options allow teachers to utilize available resources, give students a choice of which software they would like to use, and encourage new learning skills. The lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could easily be used in upper elementary or high school as well. All files are editable.

Resources Required

In this product, students will learn the English words and signs for the 42 different Valentine's Day vocabulary words presented in this product.

Students will learn the different Valentine's Day vocabulary words and each word's sign. Students will also learn the difference between the Valentine's Day vocabulary words and will see how they are used in sentences. Pictures for each of the Valentine's Day vocabulary words are provided to help students understand the different kinds of Valentine's Day vocabulary words presented.

In the first section of this product, students will be provided with 42 Valentine's Day vocabulary words, a dictionary that includes a sentence using each Valentine's Day vocabulary word, a sign for each Valentine's Day vocabulary word, and a picture that helps to explain each sentence given for each Valentine's Day vocabulary word.

In the second section of this product, students will be provided with a sentence, the sign, and a picture that explains each sentence provided. Students will write each Valentine's Day vocabulary word on the line provided. Students will be required to choose 11 Valentine's Day vocabulary words and make up a sentence using each one.

In the third section of this product, students will use the Valentine's Day vocabulary word provided along with the sign and a picture that can help support a sentence. Students will make up a sentence for each Valentine's Day vocabulary word.
