Self Advocacy Social Stories

This product includes 2 social stories that focus on self advocacy. Each short story includes comprehension questions that relate with the social story. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of characters who are experiencing a problem. When students are reading each story, they will review the importance of advocating for themselves. The vocabulary word advocacy and the different tenses that the word can be used is reviewed and discussed, students will learn and discuss what advocacy means, how we advocate for ourselves, examples of how one can advocate for themselves, why it is important to advocate for ourselves and others, and why advocacy can be challenging is included in this product. The two stories include topics regarding standing up for oneself when someone is teased and the other story relates with resisting peer pressure when presented with the opportunity to drink, smoke, or use drugs, and the importance of advocating for oneself.
