There are many ways you can use this set of speaking cards:

➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.

➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.

➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.

➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.

➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

➤ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity at the beginning of the school year or right after school holidays.

➤ Great resource for tutoring sessions and vocabulary building.

CORE FRENCH | FSL | SEASONS & WEATHER | SAISONS ET TEMPS | MÉTÉO | 125 PAGES

By French Made Fun!

This beefy 125+ page unit on weather and seasons is perfect for your older Core French students who might not have had the luxury of learning this vocabulary and these concepts when they were supposed to. This product (and my other Core French products) are built for exactly that demographic: middle school kids who are too old and "too mature" (so they think!) to be learning these babyish concepts. If this sounds like your demographic -- WELCOME! Look no further.

I teach with a game-based model, and within this unit, you'll have full guided lesson plans showing you how to engage them at every step of the way. This document is divided in two parts: One Slide Deck features interactive games and instructional materials, and a second Slide Deck features all of your lesson plans (including classroom management suggestions, alternative plans, and differentiated models), worksheets, project instructions + success criteria, flashcards + printable games, templates, activities, and word wall vocabulary. I am not your run-of-the-mill crossword puzzles, "find-a-word" and "coloring contest" gal - these games are high energy, encourage movement and will get them (seriously) speaking in French.

Specifically, I cover (in-depth!) everything they need to know about *seasons*(including the verbs we use to talk about seasons - faire, manger, boire, porter), temperatures, weather, seasonal activities, clothing we wear in different seasons, food and drink we enjoy in different seasons, months of the year, days, etc.

Activities and games you'll find included in this mega-unit:

  • 4 Coins (or Tapette à mouche) - featuring review material on seasons.

  • Énigmes - seasonal riddles.

  • In-depth explanation with examples and practice prompts for:

  • Le verbe "faire" - and the situations where we use it in context in the present tense.

  • Le verbe "manger" - and how to use it in context in the present tense.

  • Le verbe "boire" - and how we use it in context in the present tense.

  • Le verbe "porter" - and how we use it in context in the present tense.

  • "Quel temps fait-il?" - a super fun interactive whole group whiteboard game where your students will click and be directed through a series of questions - testing their knowledge about meteorological conditions!

  • "Charades saisonnières" - with explanation and guided prompts (for you!)

  • "La poésie saisonnière" - A poetry-writing exercise on using our 5 senses.

  • A seasonal activities matching game.

  • A reflexive writing activity on seasonal preferences.

  • "Des vêtements parfaits" - A worksheet for students to create their dream outfit for their favorite season (#OOTD!)

  • A "J'ai... Qui a?" Card game with 28 cards featuring weather, seasons, days of the week and relevant vocabulary to this unit (and a guide sheet for you to make sure it runs smoothly!)

  • "Mon cahier sur la météo" - A simple 2-page look into the daily weather and temperature that students can complete independently or as homework.

  • Centres activities with direction for you on leading them. Centres include:

  • An English-French matching game

  • A trivia round

  • Weather charades

  • Season riddles

  • Success criteria for final project, "Ma bande dessinée saisonnière," in which students create a comic strip featuring all 4 seasons and their changes. It comes with worksheets, templates and brainstorming prompts.

  • A printable, cut-out word wall featuring 57 words to add to your current wall.

French École School Speaking Listening Activity Taboo Game Communication Orale

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Teaching French école - school vocabulary?  Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

To get your students speaking even more about l'école et les cours, try out my French School Speaking Activity - L'école et les cours.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. You can easily modify this game to play it with all levels!  You are going to love hearing your students speaking in French to each other about school vocabulary.

Try out a free full version Taboo Game - Pays et Villes

French Taboo Games Growing Bundle

Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

This French Taboo vocabulary and speaking game includes the following:

  • How to play French Taboo (beginner and advanced levels)
  • 70 printable taboo cards in French and English
  • Page for recording new words in French in English

What teachers are saying about my French Taboo Speaking games:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is exactly what I've been looking for to consolidate and expand vocabulary! I teach a beginners intensive course (IB) as well as intermediate students who've done 2 years of French. Students love being able to guess, even being supported with a dictionary. LOVE the range of levels variety of vocab. Looking forward to the growing nature of this bundle. UN GRAND MERCI!!!" - L.J.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Love this! Great design, great differentiation of playing for lower levels (or higher levels), and love that there are so many topics! Great words included in each one." - Ashley Lefevre

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is a great supplement for multi-level classes. I have students who are francophone and students who have never taken a French class before this year, so a resource like this is very much appreciated." - Missalineous

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Absolutely loved this and so did my kids. Vocabulary is a weak spot so this is a great resource to help build school related vocabulary. Taboo is awesome!" - Classroom of a Caper

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "A great way to make the students use different vocab to express their ideas!" - Made by Mademoiselle

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "It was sooo good when I used it in my French class. I teach English and French in Spain and I'm decided to use it in both subjects for the coming year. I needed two lessons because the students had so much fun that they asked me to play another day!" - Ester B.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Thank you! I like how there is a beginner version of the game - perfect for my core French students!" - Janesse M.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is my second set of Taboo cards from Love Learning Languages, as the first round with reflexive verbs was a huge hit. Kids again enjoyed this review of vocabulary terms. This can be differentiated for students at various levels of confidence and ability." - Rebecca C.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This was a very useful resource to purchase and I would recommend it to any junior teacher! Everything you needed was there and it was very organized resource. Looking forward to using it again this year!" - Kathleen E.

FRENCH WRITING/ÉCRITURE | GENRES | RESEARCH | RECHERCHE | RAPPORT | DESCRIPTIVE

By French Made Fun!

French Simple Negation Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

50 French Simple Negation Speaking and Listening Cards

This resource includes 50 simple negation speaking cards that you can cut out and have students use in pairs or small groups. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again. I've also included a PDF with only one card per page for projecting or using with tablets when you want to do a whole class activity or paired work without printing.

This resource is included in my French Negation Bundle.

On each card there is a question for student #1 to ask to student #2. The assumed answer is written on the card, but students should be reminded that sometimes more than one answer is possible.

Since there are so many cards included, this activity can last a while and give your students an opportunity to really practice a lot.

These are questions and answers to practice simple negation in the present, passé composé and futur proche tenses. Just pull out the ones you're not quite ready to use given your students' current level.

All of these cards use: ➯ ne . . . pas

This resource is included in my Ça y est, je parle français! French 1 curriculum bundle!

Also, check out my new Build Your Own French Bundle option. Select resources from my store, and if they total $20 or more I'll quickly create a special order bundle for you at 20% off. No sale items or other already discounted bundles can be included.

CORE FRENCH | FSL | LOST PET | ANIMAL PERDU | GAME-BASED | 90 PAGES | PROJECT

By French Made Fun!

This newly updated *94 page* unit will cover you for roughly 7-9 Core French 1-hour classes and features a teachable slide deck, worksheets, lesson plans, rubrics, success criteria, a word wall, a phrase wall and numerous suggestions to get your kids having fun, moving, interacting and legitimately enjoying French class with you. The entirety (or parts of) the unit can easily be left with a substitute teacher and you need a quick lesson plan. It's ALL here!

As with all of my Core French products, this one is geared toward a LOW-LEVEL middle-school classroom (grades 3-7). It's high-energy, interactive, highly engaging and requires no prep. It ties in to some science concepts for grades 5 & 6 on biodiversity and adaptations. It features a significant amount of game-based learning and some project-based learning

There are three longer projects included with this unit: "Mon drôle d'animal" which has them building a silly animal and describing its body parts and details; "Mon animal perdu," a poster project which has them creating a poster for their missing pet, and "Une interview à la radio" which has them writing a radio script to find their lost pet with a partner.

Included in this bundle:

  • Warm-Ups: A collection of 11 worksheets, suggested lessons and activities, and games to support very low-level students who do not yet have basic vocabulary for colors, animals, etc., to get them up to snuff before jumping into the unit.

  • "Les couleurs" - A personal picture dictionary for students to use throughout the unit.

  • "Ma maison" - 3 differentiated, independent activities for your students to draw and describe their house.

  • "Les animaux de la jungle" - An independent colour and vocabulary activity.

  • "Méli-Mélo" - A simple word scramble activity.

  • "Apprenons les noms des animaux" - 3 pages for students to practice coloring and writing vocabulary.

  • Lesson Plans: 6 days of explicit lesson plans included. Everything from your prompts, needed material, explanation of tasks, extension opportunities, differentiation ideas, classroom management tips and tricks are included for each day. Each day students have activities, games, worksheets, and projects to work on independently, in partners and in groups.

  • Slide Deck: 38 pages of highly engaging, game-based learning, that's interactive for you to click and go. In your Slide Deck, you'll find:

  • "Quel est ton animal de compagnie préféré?" - A listening and speaking activity on showing preferences. Your lesson plan has suggestions for kinesthetic games and a student survey.

  • "Tapette à mouches" - A 4-Slide group activity for students to find the vocabulary on the board in two large groups. Your lesson plan has suggestions for having your students lead this game.

  • "Quelle couleur sont les animaux?" - A 10-Slide activity to practice les couleurs in partners. Your lesson plan has suggestions for a kinesthetic game for this activity.

  • "Bones?! Où es-tu?!" - An engaging, interactive 8-Slide game that will have your students guessing the location of a hidden dog I've hidden behind objects on the slides. Your lesson plan has suggestions for having your students lead this game.

  • "Qui suis-je?" - Two animal riddles as models for a riddle-creating activity outlined in your lesson plan. Students see, hear and use descriptive language.

  • "Le projet final" - Your final project build-up has two slides which I use as messages du jour to explain their poster project, and two slides which highlight the expectations.

  • "Headbandz" - A final fun group game for your students to use descriptive language, with vocabulary prompts, to explain an animal.

  • Worksheets, Games and Activities: 25 pages of engaging, straightforward worksheets, activities, games, printables, cut-outs, flashcards etc., that match up with your lesson plans.

  • Color name cut-outs for a kinesthetic game.

  • "Que préfères-tu?" - a speaking and listening activity on preferences.

  • "Qui suis-je?" - A charades game with print-and-cut animal names and images.

  • "Mon drôle d'animal" - 3 differentiated activities depending on your students' levels in French.

  • "Plumes, Écailles, Fourrure, Coquille" - Cards to print and cut for an art activity on body coverings.

  • "Où vivent-ils?" - An independent creative worksheet on animal habitats.

  • "Adaptations" - An independent worksheet for students to colour, trace & write animal vocabulary.

  • "Les revêtements corporels" - a cut-and-paste sorting activity to understand 4 body coverings.

  • "Mur de phrases" - 12 Questions and answers to typical phrases seen in this unit, en Français with English translations. 2 student copies "Comment répondre?" are given with the questions and prompts to answer them. One copy has modelled examples.

  • Final Project: Students create a poster on their missing animal with specific guidelines to follow. This is the bulk of formal assessment for this unit.

  • "Ah non! Mon animal est perdu!" - Students are provided with an explanation of the final project task with a checklist as their "success criteria."

  • "Mon collier d'animal" - Two differentiated versions of this activity that will have students designing their pet's collar for their final project.

  • "Une interview à la radio" - A partner skit-writing activity where they'll take turns pretending to be the "animateur" and the "invité" and either record their radio interview, present it to the class, present it to you, or use other means like FlipGrid (if your board allows it) to show you their learnings.

  • "Mon animal perdu" - A formal rubric which focuses on their ability to meet the checklist criteria, to be creative, or to be effective communicators in the radio interview.
