A Lesson on the event leading up to the Ukraine Crisis 2022. In order to understand this, students need to take a deep look into the history of the struggle Ukraine has had with its more powerful neighbors in its attempts to become independent. Finally, in 1991, Ukraine was free of domination and created its own government system, and claimed independence for the first time in history. In an attempt to reach independence, there has been a great amount of bloodshed over the centuries.
Let's take a look at the rich history of Ukraine while having fun at the same time. This is an interactive lesson.

Studying presidents and world leaders throughout the world is important because it allows us to understand the impact individuals can have on society and history. By examining the decisions and actions of past and current leaders, we can learn valuable lessons about leadership through this semi-silent carousel activity.
This is an engaging President's Day or world government activity on world leaders for geography, civic, and other social studies classrooms. Students get involved in the learning process and will learn about 15 presidents & leaders (past & present) around the world to understand the place. This can be used as an introductory before or wrap-up lesson following a World Governments unit. Students will recognize world leaders and understand how they played an important part in government and managing their countries — in both positive and negative ways.
(This lesson is easily modified for time restraints. Simply, choose fewer leaders to cover or remove one of the games. Can be modified for middle school and high school geography and history classrooms.)

Geography summer school and camps don't give us enough time to cover all the concepts and topics that need to be covered. Squeezing the curriculum
8 months is difficult; covering it over 6-8 weeks is impossible. There is so much information and so little time. This leaves us as educators with the question of what are the important aspects to cover. Having taught middle school level and high school level geography for 11 years, I have pulled out what I feel is a must!
A working knowledge of geography concepts is helpful in teaching this material. If you do not understand geography or if you have never taught geography before, no problem! Simply, read through the student material so you can help your students understand and complete the included activities. Before presenting it to your students, this will require a little mental preparation; however, this resource will save you 20+ hours of resource prep.

OBJECTIVES:
(1) The learner will analyze the processes involved the reasons we use the electoral college system of presidential selection and the strategy required for a successful victory.
(2) The learner will decipher the difference between the popular vote and the Electoral College as a means of electing government officials.
(3) The learner will evaluate the importance in the ratification of Amendment 12 in establishing a process for electing the President.
(4) The learner will use the information gained through the lessons to work cooperatively and create their perfect candidate.
(5) The learner will track the election process and calculate the outcome.
(6) The learner will research two upcoming candidates and compare their views and stances.

What can Africa teach the world about government? Africa's government system has experienced various types of government from democracies to republics to autocracies. This is a comprehensive cooperative activity for students to explore the various governments of Africa while learning or reviewing the government systems. It can also be completed individually if the instructor chooses not to have students work in groups.
The lesson ends with a Big Picture Question: What can Africa teach the world about Government?

This lesson will require research provisions: Internet, encyclopedias, books on Africa focused on government.
SAMPLE OF PROCEDURE:
The students will work in groups of two (2) or three (3) to complete the assignment.
Provide each group/student with a What Does Africa Have To Teach The World About Government? Have the group read it over together. Students will, then, work in groups to complete the Country Government Profile guide sheet, examining the structure of a government chosen by the student/group. They will use the What Does Africa Have To Teach The World About Government? in which to refer when needed during the Country Government Profile. Give the students approximately 30 minutes to complete the activity.
