Tales From Shakespeare are great adaptions of William Shakespeare's play that allow student to be introduced to the story line in a way they can understand while not being too simplistic. Worksheets, crossword, word search, chapter notes are bundled together based on the story. Answer sheets are provided where necessary.

Students read or watch A Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, my students read A Christmas Carol and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas, for an engaging activity before the holiday. A Christmas Carol was a challenge for the students, so watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas was a fun distraction.

Students will take notes on the provided worksheets to help keep track of information and make connections in a visual format. Notetaking helps keep students engaged in both stories. This also helps the students look at well know material in a new way.

This active and engaging resource gets students moving and discussing. Students will make paper snowballs out of the provided cards. They will then use these for a snowball fight. When time is up, students will find a partner, uncrumple the paper, and have a discussion.

Students can reach connections and have discussions with the information they gather.

The biography introduces students to Yang's experience growing up as one of the only Asian-American students in predominantly white schools in California. • Discussion Question Handouts (x9): Thirty pages of higher-order discussion questions guaranteed to inspire profoundly thoughtful class discussions! This unit features double-sided handouts with 8-10 questions for each of the book's 9 chapters. The discussion questions are the beating heart of these lesson plans. This is a novel study to go along with Roland Smith’s Novel Peak. This product includes completed lesson plans for each chapter, a Google Slide Show for each chapter, Doodle Notes for each chapter, an End of chapter activity for each chapter, and a final STEM project to go with the book. Students will practice making inferences, central idea, supporting details, writing summaries, cause and effect/Problem and solution text structures, research skills, and discussion skills.

A large part of this novel study is discussion-based. I have included a slide on the slideshow where you will put your classroom expectations for discussions. There are also times for the introduction to the chapter, you will start with a whole group discussion. (I would maybe recommend turn and talks if you use groups in your classroom)

The Lesson Plans and Google Slides are editable for you. You can edit them on Google Slides and/or Microsoft Powerpoint (I would recommend Google Slides because that is the app that it was created with). **The standards are not included in the lesson plans due to each state having their own standards**

This is a fun collaborative activity that requires students to discuss different quotes from the text and decide whether or not they foreshadow the ending of the story!

Included are 17 quotes from "The Landlady" by Roald Dahl that you will cut into strips. 12 of the quotes ARE foreshadowing, 5 are NOT. You'll make a set for each group of students. The directions (included- you can project them or make copies) instruct the students to make a pile of the strips that show foreshadowing, and a pile of the ones that do not. For the ones that DO, they are instructed to discuss what Dahl was foreshadowing or hinting at with each line.

Afterwards, the students will complete a reflection question individually. I have included two different questions for you to choose from, OR you could offer the students a choice as to which one they would like to answer. The first asks them to select the quote from the activity that pinpoints the moment in the text when they realized what was foreshadowed throughout the whole story. The second asks them to identify and explain the quote that contributed the most to the suspenseful mood of the text.

If you are looking to differentiate this activity, you could give lower level students a smaller amount of quotes. Higher level students who finish early could be challenged to turn the examples that are NOT foreshadowing into foreshadowing by adding in some words!

I've included an answer key for your convenience.

This is a preview of our play script for William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, which has been rewritten to be suitable for ages 9 to 14. A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells the story of four Athenian lovers who have a complicated yet dramatic love life. Lysander and Hermia loved each other and wished to be together. Helena loved Demetrius, but Demetrius loved Hermia, and Hermia’s father wanted him to marry his daughter.

Hermia and Lysander decided to run off together into the woods. But the woods were haunted by the Fairy King and Queen - Oberon and Titania, and the King’s mischievous henchman, Puck. The play tells the magical story of the eventual coming together of the four lovers, and Duke Theseus and his bride, Hippolyta.
