This assessment can be utilized to identify a baseline for individuals around their knowledge of money. This assessment explores an individual’s ability to identify coins and notes, explores value, the ability to count money and budget. This assessment is divided into seven specific areas and each area can be used in isolation to each other, or together to form a comprehensive assessment.

These areas include:

1. Basic Numeracy Skills

2.Written amounts

3.Colour recognition and value

4.Coin and note recognition

5.Budgeting assessment

6.Monetary values

7.Budgeting

It is ideal that all sections are completed to give a general picture of the level of skills the Student currently has. The assessor needs to complete the scores in each section as well as placing a comment next to the score. It is important that the assessor provides a comment so that all relevant material can be extracted, and the most appropriate program be designed for each Student.

SCORING - the assessor is to place a number score into the column next to the question. The scores go from 1 - 3 depending on the skill of the Student.

1. Completed independently - i.e., no assistance at all from the assessor, (no verbal or gestural prompts).

2. Completed with assistance - i.e., assessor may need to verbally prompt or point to correct response.

3. Can not do - even with prompts the Student is unable to complete correct response.

From the baseline a money recognition / budget program can be developed to meet the individual needs of each Student.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED - The assessor will need to have the following equipment available prior to commencing the assessment:

• Money in the form of coins and notes up to the value of $100.00. Should you not have the physical money, this resource includes the options to print a paper copy of the coins/notes which will suffice.

• A printed copy of this assessment and associated worksheets.

NOTE: This assessment is designed for Australian audiences as it uses Australian money.

J'utilise ces 27 cartes "J'ai... Qui a ?" une fois que mes élèves sont familiarisés avec la lecture d'une fraction et les numérateurs et dénominateurs d'une fraction.

Si vous n'êtes pas familier, les jeux de cartes "J'ai... Qui a?" sont des activités en grand groupe qui renforcent leur capacité à lire et à dire ce qu'il y a sur les cartes. C'est une excellente activité de révision avant l'évaluation et je l'utilise actuellement avec mes élèves de 5e et 6e année ; mais il pourrait facilement être utilisé en 7e année comme échauffement ou rappel.

Dans ce document de 9 pages, vous trouverez :

• Explication du jeu et comment démarrer avec des exemples.
• 27 cartes pré-créées (9 cartes par feuille) comportant des fractions imagées (dénominateurs de 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 et 10) y compris les cartes "début" et "fin". J'ai créé cette activité rapide pour que les élèves s'exercent aux stratégies d'arrondis. Si vous avez beaucoup de dés et de jetons double face, cette activité rapide ne nécessite aucune préparation de votre part. Il demande à vos élèves de lancer trois dés pour créer un nombre décimal, de l'arrondir au centième le plus proche et d'utiliser le plateau de jeu pour aligner quatre nombres décimaux d'affilée pour gagner la partie.

This 14-page math situation will have your students creating a budget, following a budget, estimating and calculating total costs and creating their own super surprise bag! It will push your students' financial literacy and understanding of receipts, budgets, costs and quantities of items.

In this 14 page document, you'll find printable price lists, activities and the answer keys for all of the activities. Here are the activities you'll find in this document:

• An activity on estimating costs (using mental math and multiplying decimal numbers);

This is the English version of this same French game, also available in my store.

In this fun kinesthetic math game, students work in pairs to create a paper basketball and count hits and misses to find fractions, decimals, simplified fractions and percentages that represent player statistics.

All you need are plastic cups, a roll of tape, and a recycling bin full of paper.

This game is designed for 5th and 6th graders, but can easily be played in 7th or 8th grade as a review.

Great for a substitute or for fun days (or for a class with a crowd of crazy little ones who like to move all day, like mine!)

This is a great revision activity prior to assessment and I currently use it with my 6th graders; but it could easily be utilized in grade 7 as a warm-up, or a reach-back.

In this 10 page document, you will find:

• 24 pre-created cards with mini coordinate grids (up to (8,8)) including "start" and "finish" cards.
