Ancient Egypt slide show project for Egyptian Pharaohs and Gods/Goddesses. Includes a description of project and a rubric.

This project encourages students to choose an SEL topic of their own interest and create a presentation and activity as if they were delivering a lesson on it.

This project allows students to take the format of SEL lessons they've learned from and practice using it themselves to find, understand, and share information. This benefits individual students, as they can explore information of interest, and allows the educator to gauge what topics their students are curious about for future lessons.

If you have students present their lessons they also get practice talking about SEL topics and respectfully listening to peers do the same. I find this to be a great end of year project to wrap up SEL learning.

With presentations this project can be made to take up a whole week of SEL instruction (based on a 30-45 minute period a day). Day 1 students can hand in their topic and activity idea for teacher feedback, days 2-3 students can create the material, and day 4-5 students can present. Examples are simple for clarity and to suit a range of students, but expectations can be adjusted based on grade-level. This project includes a packet with clear instructions (with examples) and space for students to write their chosen topic and activity, an example slideshow, and two example activities that accompany the slideshow.

High Interest Activity to Demonstrate Knowledge:

Students are fully engaged in displaying what they have learned about symbiotic relationships. Students will research two organisms which will be chosen at random or assigned by the teacher. Students will present what they have learned about the relationships by creating a poster and giving an oral presentation. Students will learn about benefits and consequences about relationships between organisms. This activity allows for creativity and this creativity increases engagement.

This activity could be assigned and completed digitally via Google Slides.

Students will be assigned or choose a holiday to research and then write their own informative essay. There are two pages giving different holidays to research, but you can also write your own holidays in if you would like. Students can use the graphic organizer to help organize their ideas before writing their explanatory essay. Engage your students in a festive exploration of holidays around the world with this comprehensive research and writing activity. It includes everything your students will need to conduct thorough research, organize their findings, and craft a well-structured essay.

Cartoon Last Character Standing

Students will be given a list of Cartoon Characters to see how their characters are eliminated over a 10 day period during the Last Character Standing Games. They will be given a pair of dice that will be used to determine if the character moves on to the next day or if they are eliminated. Are you looking for a fun way to assess angles, lines, using a protractor to draw angles, and angle relationships? Then look no further! This fun math activity provides students with an opportunity to be an Urban Planner. They will use list of instructions to create their own Seasonal Town (Falling Leaves Town, Winter Wonderland Town, Spring Showers Town and Summer Sun Town). Each project has the same set of instructions but the street names are different to reflect the appropriate seasonal town name. This will allow you to pick a season or even create the four seasons in your classroom.

This project helps students demonstrate their knowledge in the following:

• parallel lines
• perpendicular lines
• transversal lines
• acute angles
• obtuse angles
• scalene triangle
• equilateral triangle
• isosceles triangle
• quadrilaterals
• z, c, and f patterns creating from transversal lines
• relationships between intersecting lines

There is also a rubric included for assessment purposes. I have used this project with my students and they have always enjoyed it and its quick to mark. Bonus! Students will likely need a couple of classes to complete this assessment and I would recommend having them complete a rough copy first to plan out their town.

This project is great for the end of the year. That weird time between end of course tests and the school year end is challenging. The project is mostly self-paced and great for those days that you only see some classes throughout the day. Minimum materials are needed! 11x7 paper, lined, paper, the packet, and yarn!

Student will make a map, complete a packet, and write some journal entries on how they would survive if they were stranded on a deserted island.
