7th Grade Reading Activities (by price, low to high)

This is a great sheet for following directions and coming up with a strategy to follow those directions. It checks reading comprehension and knowing left and right as well. I use it with 6th graders to show how important carefully following directions can be. It could easily be used with younger grades or possibly older grades as well.

With this idiom matching game, students will view 15 English idioms which they may or may not have heard before. They will be asked to match the idiom definition to the correct idiom. Students can complete this activity digitally by making a numbered list and writing the idiom definition next to the correct idiom number. Students can also have a hands-on experience by printing the grid of idioms and the definitions. If you cut out the definitions, there is space to paste or tape them underneath the correct idiom. An answer key is included.

Feel free to delete the background picture to save ink when printing.

Beyond the primary grades teachers often seem to forget about checking students reading fluency. This is a simple to use form for students to provide themselves a self-feedback on their read aloud fluency. Teachers can then use the same form to provide their own feedback on the students reading fluency. File states to use Audacity (a free download online) but other recording programs/devices may be used - this is just a personal choice/what is available on our school computers. Included in this package is how I used this program successfully in my classroom. Please don't forget to take a look at the other items I have available in my store!

This activity is a collaborative way for students to work together in a book club and it works for any book. Students read the book at a rate decided by the club and respond daily to their reading.

Students use creativity to present the ideas going through the main character's mind during each section of the book. Students enthusiastically watch each groups poster fill up with thoughts.

Students also write questions over the sections they read. I used the questions my students wrote for future book clubs to answer rather than writing questions.
