Marking Period/Quarter/Trimester Student Reflections | Report Cards | Progress
By Perfectly Planned Designs
Teachers know it is important to allow students to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses so they can grow and improve. I created these reflection sheets to make it easy! I simply print these reflections out at the end of each Marking Period and have students reflect on their grade as well as the quality of work they turned in. They then describe how they can improve as we begin the next Marking Period. Reflection sheets are also included in case your school uses Quarters or Trimesters.
Create Infographics using Piktochart - Internet Research | Distance Learning
By Innovations in Technology
In this lesson, students learn more about what makes an effective infographic as they analyze existing infographics and then create their own. Included with the lesson is a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation for whole class instruction (editable) to learn about infographics and analyze them as a class. Infographics with discussion questions are included in the PowerPoint. Next, students choose a topic of interest, research their topic and then create an infographic using Piktochart (www.piktochart.com), a free Web 2.0 tool that does not require download. A Quick Start Guide for the program is included to help students navigate the program. Topic suggestions are included in the teacher/student resource material. These infographics look great printed and displayed in the hallways!
This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary grades or high school as well. It can be used for any subject that wants to incorporate technology in a lesson.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Student Success Guidebook - Brochure Project
By Innovations in Technology
Creating a Student Success Guidebook (brochure project) gives students an opportunity to share their knowledge and tips for success in middle school with the following year’s new incoming class of students. This is perfect for a technology or leadership class, or for a club that focuses on assisting students, such as Student Council. Students work in small teams to research an assigned topic about expectations in middle school, specific to their school. Next, they create one page of a brochure with their information which will finally be combined with the other teams’ pages to create a full brochure that can be published and distributed to incoming students. The project was created for 8th graders but could easily be adapted to use with 5th or 6th graders leaving elementary school and providing tips for success to new elementary students, or could be used by sophomores (or above) in high school to create a success guide for incoming high school freshmen.
Great end of year project!!
Files Included with this Lesson
• Teacher & Student Notes and Resources
• Brochure Project Instructions, Expectations & Grading Rubric
• Sample Brochure (non-editable .pdf)

Applying Economics to the Ladakh
By Sarah Austin
This lesson will have students explore the two systems of ‘Capitalism’ and ‘Socialism’. Students will go beyond the surface level of understanding, and will be prompted to apply their knowledge of these two economic systems to a distant, isolated culture called ‘Ladakh’, who have been dramatically transformed by “development” or capitalism. Students will analyze a documentary film and identify examples of each economic system. Two critical thinking activities are included that will serve to demonstrate their new understandings and have students delve deeper into the economic & political dynamics shown in the film. 1) 'Loop/Web Diagram'- Students will show how the road coming into Ladakh has changed their culture and environment. 2) Debate- In this extension activity students will be assigned one of five perspectives; all of which were presented in the documentary. This activity will prompt students to rethink any assumptions and understandings they may have had tied to the concepts of progress, development, wealth and poverty. Materials: • Lesson Plan • 1 PowerPoint (26 Slides) • Documentary film titled ‘Ancient Futures: Learning from the Ladakh’ • Grading Rubrics • Printable Handouts: o HANDOUT #1: Guided PowerPoint Notes o HANDOUT #2: Economic Cheat Sheet o HANDOUT #3: Economic Labels o HANDOUT #4: Debate Activity

DESERT ISLAND EXPLORERS | FRENCH/ENGLISH | LONG TERM SUB PLANS | LESSON PLANS
By French Made Fun!
Desert Island Explorer is an engaging, two-week game-based sub unit designed for grades 5 to 9, offering an immersive and bilingual experience centered around the theme of desert islands. This project-based learning module combines elements of language arts, science, and teamwork to enhance students' critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative skills.
Nothing is more stressful than having to leave work for an extended time: our profession requires us to plan, to create engaging resources, and to assume the subs covering have French capabilities. We all know that's... not the reality of this profession. When you've gotta be out, you've gotta be out, and frankly, when you're in this position, you've not got the time, energy or mental health to allow for this level of planning. That's where I come in! This ressource covers you for roughly two weeks: providing your sub with direction in English, and activities in both English and French to ensure a seamless absence... And if you aren't actually out (or maybe you're checked out and just a body in the room!) but just want someone to tell you what to do for 2 weeks, this checks out for that, too.
I integrate discussion-based prompts, writing activities, reading activities, film watching, reflections, games, math tasks, group work, projects, presentations, art tasks - just about everything to keep them engaged while you're away! This is a clear and engaging this resource for your next emergency absence.
In this mega crypt of activities relating to desert island survival, you'll discover the following activities:
Hopefully this provides a sense of relief and calm to you in this time of need!
