Comparing Systems of Linear Equations: Grade 8 Math

Which system has infinitely many solutions? Which system is better suited for the elimination method? Teams must be able to determine the answer through visual inspection, then back up their answers verbally.

In this form students will use a real-world example of a monthly budget and saving goal. Students will use their learned knowledge of incomes and expenses to identify these items in the monthly budget. Students will practice identifying and calculating the amount of money needed for the desired expense and calculating how much money will need to be saved each month in order to attain the expense. Students will also examine the given budget to calculate the individual total income, expenses, money saved, and identify additional ways for individuals to save.
