No prep slides for this and engaging fun role-play/simulation activity with supporting worksheets and lessons plans for middle/high school students. Plus Source analysis guide and task to examine the reaction to the treaty.

The role-play has students in groups of 4 ideally. With each student playing the role of the Big three and Germany. Using the background cards, the players try to achieve the objective of their nation with the treaty. They write out their conditions on the provided A3 Treaty Worksheet before sharing their decision against he actual treaty, were they more or less hard?.

Then proceeded to analysis four sources (in the in step by step Poworpoint) on the reaction to the Treaty of Versailles. Its lots of fun.

This 15-slide PowerPoint presentation covers the women during the Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age. It is an ideal lesson for the post-Civil War period or as a stand-alone resource for women’s history. It is also a good resource during Women’s History Month.

Each slide contains information and graphics that highlight women’s changing roles due to industrialization. It highlights the different experiences based on social classes as well as work experiences and early organizational efforts.

The PowerPoint slides are available both as PPT and PDF. Check the Bonus section for the additional file.

There is also an Easel Assessment. For Home Schoolers or for asynchronous learning, this is a valuable digital tool.

Reading Assignment and Worksheet

This three-page Reading Assignment and Worksheet provides an overview of the various activities, attributes and activities of women between 1865 and 1910 as the United States faced dramatic changes due to the Industrial Revolution. Students will learn about the growing divisions between social classes as well as early efforts to combat some of the issues facing the nation.
Students can read this on their own as a homework assignment or it can be a group activity in a classroom. It is also ideally suited for home-schoolers or independent learners who want to learn more. A Worksheet with questions based on the reading is included, along with an Answer Key.

Primary Source Analysis and DBQs

This 20 page Primary Source Analysis activity gives students a chance to delve deeper into women’s experiences and contributions during the Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age. In addition, there are Document-Based Questions (DBQs) for students to complete.

Included is a one-page sheet that explains what primary sources are and how to analyze them using specific questions through a process called HAPPY. Primary sources include speeches, essays, a declaration and cartoons. Each page of primary sources includes questions. There is also a page at the end for students to apply the HAPPY process to one source. An Answer Key to all the questions and the HAPPY process is available at the end of the packet. This is excellent practice for all high school students, particularly Honors and APUSH students, but all students will find these resources engaging.

Students can read this on their own as a homework assignment or it can be a group activity in a classroom. It is also ideally suited for home-schoolers, college students or independent learners who want to learn more. Teachers can assign just a few sources to analyze or the entire packet. I was looking for a way to tell students about what the study of historical involves, how it is structured. But...I needed a way to explicitly teach the key skills concept that was engaging and efficient. When I just talked AT students, they looked disinterested.

Well if you know how this feels, this task is for you.

That's why I created this story, source, and scholarship resource. They enjoyed the examples and questions that encouraged the collaborative sharing of their ideas as they worked through the task. I could see that every student was enjoying the lesson, participating in the discussions, and understanding the concepts. It became a life saver.

It is a great introduction to the complexity that is involved in small events in history; easy, interactive, and engaging. I've found that it helps explicitly outline all the skills the students need to develop.

The task will cover all the content for a good, detailed understanding of the event or question. It is an excellent resources for absent students who need to covered missed work as it is a self contained, no-prep lesson.

Nazi Germany - Strength Through Joy - Guided Reading, Story, Source, Scholarship

When I started my procedure of historical enquiry unit each year, I wanted to introduce the all three skills. I was looking for a way to tell students about what the study of historical involves, how it is structured. But...I needed a way to explicitly teach the key skills concept that was engaging and efficient. When I just talked AT students, they looked disinterested.

Well if you know how this feels, this task is for you.

That's why I created this story, source, and scholarship resource. They enjoyed the examples and questions that encouraged the collaborative sharing of their ideas as they worked through the task. I could see that every student was enjoying the lesson, participating in the discussions, and understanding the concepts. It became a life saver.

It is a great introduction to the complexity that is involved in small events in history; easy, interactive, and engaging. I've found that it helps explicitly outline all the skills the students need to develop.

The task will cover all the content for a good, detailed understanding of the event or question. It is an excellent resources for absent students who need to covered missed work as it is a self contained, no-prep lesson.

Common Core Outcomes:

For Grades 6-8:

RH.6-8.1: Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of primary and secondary sources.
RH.6-8.2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH.6-8.6: Identify aspects of a text that reveal an author’s point of view or purpose (e.g., loaded language, inclusion or avoidance of particular facts).
RH.6-8.9: Analyze the relationship between a primary and secondary source on the same topic.

• RH.9-10.9 & RH.11-12.9: Integrate information from diverse sources, both primary and secondary, into a coherent understanding of an idea or event, noting discrepancies among sources.
