What is a \x3Cstrong>unicameral\x3C/strong> versus \x3Cstrong>a bicameral legislation\x3C/strong>? This printable graphic show students \x3Cstrong>examples of head of state\x3C/strong> and \x3Cstrong>head of government\x3C/strong> such as \x3Cstrong>monarchs, presidents, prime ministers, and chancellors\x3C/strong>. The bottom explains what the difference is between a \x3Cstrong>unicameral and bicameral legislative body\x3C/strong> and gives examples of what these \x3Cstrong>law-making bodies\x3C/strong> may be called around the world, such as \x3Cstrong>Senate, House, Parliament, National Assembly,\x3C/strong> etc. It is important to understand that a \x3Cstrong>Prime Minister in one country may not have the same roles as a Prime Minister\x3C/strong> in another country, same as \x3Cstrong>a Monarch\x3C/strong> may be an \x3Cstrong>absolute Monarch may be Head of Government and Head of State\x3C/strong>, where as in a country such as England which has a \x3Cstrong>constitutional monarchy, the role\x3C/strong> of the \x3Cstrong>monarch\x3C/strong> is only \x3Cstrong>ceremonial\x3C/strong>.\x3Cp>This graphic is designed to \x3Cstrong>bring clarity to various positions\x3C/strong> \x3Cstrong>a government\x3C/strong> can have. When \x3Cstrong>students read\x3C/strong> that a government has a unicameral legislation, they \x3Cstrong>will understand\x3C/strong> that it only has one body such as a Parliament that makes and passes laws.\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Students must understand that every government within each country may have similarities but is usually structured differently.\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>☑ Check out the preview to see what is included.\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>Visit our store \x3Cstrong>Geography & Math Made Easy\x3C/strong> to view other related resources:\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Similar Resources & Skills\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>✧ World Government Lessons\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>✧ World Economics Lessons\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>✧ Environmental, Cultural, and Human Issues\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>.........................................................................................................................................................\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Disclaimer\x3C/strong>:\x3Cp>One purchase is for the use of one teacher. Geography: World Government Types Legislation Structure Large Poster Size
By Geography & Math Made Easy
A zip file reader is needed to open the file.
Includes:
Government legislative structure can be hard to understand and grasp, especially when you are discussing types of government systems around the world. Who makes the laws and who approves the laws? Who is the head of government? What is a unicameral versus a bicameral legislation? This printable graphic show students examples of head of state and head of government such as monarchs, presidents, prime ministers, and chancellors. The bottom explains what the difference is between a unicameral and bicameral legislative body and gives examples of what these law-making bodies may be called around the world, such as Senate, House, Parliament, National Assembly, etc. It is important to understand that a Prime Minister in one country may not have the same roles as a Prime Minister in another country, same as a Monarch may be an absolute Monarch may be Head of Government and Head of State, where as in a country such as England which has a constitutional monarchy, the role of the monarch is only ceremonial.
This graphic is designed to bring clarity to various positions a government can have. When students read that a government has a unicameral legislation, they will understand that it only has one body such as a Parliament that makes and passes laws.
Students must understand that every government within each country may have similarities but is usually structured differently.

NEW! Geography — Regions Simplified: Formal, Functional & Perceptual Regions
By Geography & Math Made Easy
Please Note: The instructor/teacher will need to know and understand the concept of REGIONS as this is a concept difficult for young brains to grasp. Even though we simplify it for students, we will need to be ready to verbally or visually explain the concept. Not all students are ready for this high-level concept. This lesson simplifies it as much as possible, but the concept, no matter how simplified, still requires high-level thinking skills and teacher guidance. It takes practice to identify the formal, functional, and perceptual regions. If the instructor/teacher doesn't understand regions, it will be difficult to instruct. This lesson is much better than our textbooks provide. Must be modified to fit your needs, this may mean omitting some of the activ_ities included in_ this lesson.
This is a group reading activity with a graphic organizer comprehension activity, an at-home interview assignment (Optional), and a Powerpoint for assessment.
Updated to Include a:
-Page Long Version of the Reading Activity
-Page Shorter Version of the Reading Activity
_________________________________________________________________
Help our students understand the complicated concept of "regions."
I often found when I was teaching the 5 Geographical Themes, students grasp location, place, human-environment interaction & movement (ideas, people, goods), but they struggle with regions: formal, functional, and perceptual.
What is the difference between a formal, functional, and perceptual region?
What is a nodal point? How can there be regions that cannot be measured and are specifically based on feelings and perceptions? Can all regions be found on a map? Do they always have a clearly defined boundary?
This PowerPoint provides 7 scenarios in which students are required to decipher whether it is a formal, functional, or perceptual region. You can use it as an introduction or review. You may implement this in different ways.
INCLUDES:
o Detailed Teacher Instructions
o Intro Video Suggestion
o Intro Reading Activity
o Graphic Organizer Activity + Answer Sheet (Puzzle)
o Powerpoint Game
o Extension Activity
OBJECTIVES:
o The Learner will understand the concept “region.”
o The Learner will determine the difference between a formal, functional, and
perceptual region.
o The Learner will be able to identify a formal, functional, and perceptual region.
MATERIALS:
o Technology to have students watch the suggested intro video.
o Student Group Reading Assignment (Included)
o Technology to display material for the class to view & discuss
o Paper & timer to create a list needed for the reading activity (Action 1: Listing Game)
o Atlases for each group needed for the reading activity
o “Can You Identify the Type of Region?” PowerPoint Review Game (Included) & technology to show it
