Resilience Activities Classroom Guidance Lesson
By A Plus Education
This resilience resource can help your students develop skills and strategies to adapt to difficult circumstances and maintain their emotional and mental well-being. It focuses on helping the students to build strengths to help them cope with difficulties and challenges in school and thrive in adversity.
Our students' life at school can be challenging and lead to disengagement and lack of concentration and focus.
Creating a positive environment for our students in school could help them build their resiliency to help them cope withand manage the difficulties they encounter. We believe building a positive environment will make our students feel supported, more engaged, more connected to their teachers and classmates, and achieve better academic results.
One of the strengths we want to develop and enhance is resilience.
**Resilience **is the ability to bounce back from difficulties and not let failure overcome and drain your resolve but find a way to rise again. By helping our students boost their resiliency, they experience more positive emotions than negative emotions, are less depressive, have greater resistance to stress, and it also boosts their immune system which leads to good health.
Our resilience lesson includes:
What is resilience and what is not resilience
Keeping positive
Goal-setting
Feelings activity
Problem Solving
Character Strengths
Stress Management

Help students build confidence and self-awareness with this powerful collection of 36 Self-Esteem Scenarios, designed specifically for middle and high school learners. Each scenario presents a realistic, age-appropriate situation that teens commonly face—ranging from social media comparison and peer pressure to rejection, lack of recognition, and family expectations.
Each scenario is crafted to reflect real teen challenges, making it easy for students to see themselves in the situations and think deeply about how thoughts, actions, and external influences can shape their self-esteem.
These ready-to-use scenarios can greatly spark meaningful reflection and discussion while encouraging students to examine how their thoughts, choices, and experiences affect their self-esteem. Whether used in small groups, whole-class discussions, or individual reflection, these scenarios promote critical thinking, empathy, emotional growth, and healthy self-worth.
Students can also role-play each scenario in pairs or small groups to explore different perspectives, practice healthy responses, and build empathy and self-awareness through guided dialogue.
Each scenario is available in multiple formats to suit your teaching style:
**❤️ **Each scenario includes a clearly labeled topic on both the task cards and worksheets, making it easy to identify the focus of the scenario at a glance and select the one that best fits your lesson or students' needs.
Students will explore important themes such as:
✔️ The impact of bullying, teasing, and exclusion
✔️ How social media and comparison shape self-image
✔️ Coping with failure, pressure, and perfectionism
✔️ The importance of self-talk, values, and emotional honesty

▶ Each scenario includes a reflection question for students to answer, as well as a version of the scenario without questions, providing space for both you and the students to create your own questions. This flexibility encourages deeper thinking and personal engagement with the material, encouraging students to connect the situations to their own lives, values, and emotional growth.
▶ The scenarios are highly relatable to the everyday experiences of teenagers, helping them recognize and understand how real-life situations—like friendship struggles, peer pressure, comparison, and personal setbacks—can impact their self-esteem and shape the way they see themselves.

**********************************
It's important to think before you speak, especially in social situations. Many times, people, including students and adults, react quickly without really considering the situation. When you respond without taking a moment to think about different aspects of the situation and how others might feel, it can lead to problems. Taking the time to think before responding helps improve relationships, allows for better self-expression, and makes it easier to find solutions to problems.
► This resource features 24 highly relevant scenarios that revolve around social conflicts. Students are prompted to consider various aspects such as alternate perspectives, people's motives, intentions, and feelings before providing a response. After this reflection, they are asked to articulate how they would react in a manner that is both appropriate and respectful.
▶️ 24 Task Cards (COLORED and B&W)
✅ There are 24 Scenario Task Cards, each featuring a single scenario followed by a corresponding question:
What should you consider in this situation, and what would be an appropriate response?
✅ The Scenario Task Cards are versatile and can be incorporated into various settings, including larger lessons, guided small groups, whole-class discussions, partner discussions before sharing with the entire group, or one-on-one sessions with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian. Both Task Card variations (Color | B&W) feature identical scenarios.
✅ You can print the Task Cards out on gloss paper or regular paper and laminate. You may also organize them in a binder ring.
▶️ 24 Writing Response Worksheets
✅ This resource also comprises 24 Writing Response Worksheets (with lines), each featuring a scenario accompanied by a corresponding writing prompt:
Read the situation and think about what you should consider before responding. Then, write some things you can say and do in response. (The worksheets include the same scenarios in the Task Cards.)
✅ These worksheets are great for “Quick Writes,” Do Now activities, Note-Taking/Reflection periods, Formative Assessments, or can simply be used as part of a larger lesson or discussion! They include breath-taking borders, fonts, and clip arts by other contributing artists.
✅ Also included is a blank Activity Worksheet for you to generate your own scenario and students write it down.
✅ Includes Print and Digital versions
▶️ 24 Organizer Worksheets and Sample Responses
✅ These worksheets include the same directions in the writing response worksheets, but are divided into organizer sections where students are asked to read a scenario and:
✅ Comprehensive Sample Responses for EACH of these worksheets are included, offering an additional adult perspective on how to address these questions.
✅ Includes Print and Digital versions
▶️ LIST of Scenarios
Additionally, a 3-page LIST OF SCENARIOS is provided, offering teachers easier access to read and select scenarios for use. It serves as a concise overview page, summarizing the scenarios listed in the Task Cards.
*******************************
How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards
► Role-Playing: Students have the opportunity to engage in collaborative role-playing exercises, either in pairs or groups, where they act out diverse scenarios to showcase appropriate responses. These activities serve as effective tools for demonstrating the adept handling of challenging situations, emphasizing the importance of considering others' perspectives and feelings. Ultimately, participating in these role-playing exercises can enhance confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.
► Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
► Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class and demonstrate appropriate responses.
► Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/ situations.
► Discussion: Students have the opportunity to engage in group or whole-class discussions centered around the Scenario Task Cards. Topics of discussion may include considerations such as, "What factors should we take into account about the situation and other people's perspectives and feelings before responding?" Participants can explore strategies for respectfully handling the given scenarios, pondering questions like "Why choose that approach?" and "What alternative options might one consider in terms of actions or responses in these situations?"

Anxiety is a common human reaction involving the mind and body, marked by feelings of uneasiness, nervousness, worry, fear, or dread about what's coming up or might happen. It acts like an internal alarm system, triggering when someone senses danger or threat. Lately, we've observed an uptick in anxiety among our students, especially teens who are dealing with various stressors.
While it's typical for teenagers to feel concerned during busy and complicated times, it becomes problematic when these worries take over their lives. Unmanaged anxiety can impact students' ability to perform well and handle everyday tasks with a sense of calm. It's essential to teach all students, not just those who are particularly anxious, how to effectively cope with their emotions and anxieties. This helps contribute to their overall well-being and gives them tools to navigate life's challenges more successfully.
This packet includes 36 Anxiety Activity Worksheets along with comprehensive Answer Keys. These worksheets offer a range of activities addressing anxiety, worry, and nervousness, offering valuable assistance in guiding your students towards practicing positive coping strategies for handling anxious feelings. Through engaging scenarios and examples, students can enhance their emotional control skills in practical and relevant ways.
This resource features both print and digital versions, with pre-existing text boxes in the digital format. Whether you're assigning activities to students in person or remotely, this resource is adaptable to both.
