This package can be used in conjunction with the free iCell app (by Hudson Alpha), which is available for iPad and Android, as well as mobile devices. Note: the iPhone app is not as advanced as the iPad app as it only gives basic definitions of cell organelles. The app is a 3D interactive way for students to learn about plant and animal cells. You can move the cell around to see where the different cell organelles are located and click on the organelles to read basic, intermediate, or advanced, descriptions. I wish there were interactive programs like this when I had to learn about cells! This unit aligns with the Ontario Grade 8 Science curriculum. One way to use this package is have students use the app to explore the parts of an animal and a plant cell. After searching online for basic cell diagrams, I did not find any that looked similar to the app so I decided to draw a plant and animal cell in 3D to match the iCell app. The drawings match up to the cells used in the app. Students can look at the basic, intermediate, or advanced descriptions from the app and colour the cell using specific colours as identified in the handout. An additional set of questions is included to ensure students explore through each of the descriptions of the plant and animal cell. 200 pages are included. I like to print double sided which gives me 100 days of journaling. If you choose to have your students use these on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, you can use this as a full year program.

This resource saves you valuable time by not having to write journal questions yourself. The sequence of tasks is designed to be repetitive so that the tasks remain familiar and achievable, yet the content changes every day to keep it fresh!

The second half of the pages is more challenging than the first as it includes reflexive verbs (even some idiomatic ones), and the vocabulary is at a higher level.

Watch the video I made so that you can see all of the rich material inside and I can show and tell you how I like to use this journal. You'll see that I printed mine double sided on pretty parchment paper and turned it into a booklet that really feels like a journal, but plain white paper and folders to store them in work just as well.

8.5 x 11 letter paper works well for printing this document. All of the pages are black and white and do not require too much ink. I recommend printing the pages double sided. You can bind the pages together with staples, a binder clip, by punching holes in the pages and inserting into a folder, or you can have the pages bound together at a business supply store.

In this product, students will learn the sign and English vocabulary word for the 41 first-grade sight words presented.

This product can be used with students who are learning English and/or sign language. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.

In the first section of the product, students will learn the English word, the sign of each first-grade sight word, and the first-grade sight word is used in a sentence. Students will be able to write the name of each first-grade sight word in their native language. A picture is also included to represent each first-grade sight word. At the end of this section, students will have the opportunity to choose 11 first-grade sight words and make up a sentence using each one.

In the second section of the product, there is a dictionary provided that includes the English word, the sign, and a picture showing each first-grade sight word.

In the third section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign, sentence, and picture that are included for each first-grade sight word provided. Students will then be required to write the vocabulary word in English.

In the fourth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write each first-grade sight word in their native language on each line and make up a sentence using the first-grade
sight words presented.

In the fifth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write each first-grade sight word in English on each line and make up a sentence using the first-grade sight words presented.
