This lesson has been specifically developed to support students with learning or intellectual difficulties to understand key aspects relating to:

SAFE SEX PRACTICES

A mini lesson exploring safe sex practices, as well as how to keep yourself and your partner safe from unwanted pregnancies and STD’s.

This lesson has been created to include key information in a easy to read manner with visuals to support information retention. Depending on the age, developmental level and key learning needs, Teachers, Parents, School Counsellors and other Allied Health Professionals should use their insight and judgement to determine whether the information contained in this lesson is suitable and appropriate for each individual student.

30 SPANISH speaking question cards - The weather

Want your students to use their Weather vocabulary in fun and meaningful conversations? You can use this NO PREP activity year after year as a fun way to encourage your students to speak more to each other about EL TIEMPO. This resource is suitable for any curriculum in which SPANISH is the language spoken, and will work best for students in 6th to 12th grade.

You can use these cards after learning specific weather vocabulary or as a fun interactive activity on any day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way.

All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a ring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities. There are many ways you can use this set of task cards:

✫ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.

✫ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing.

✫ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

✫ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.

✫ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

✫ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.

✫ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.

✫ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

AP Spanish® teachers: save time searching for the right video for your students! This Google Doc contains links to TWO YouTube videos and a viewing guides perfect for Unit 6: Los retos ambientales. One video has an auto-grading Edpuzzle version! The accompanying comprehension questions are digital for distance learners and printable for in-person learners, and they are customizable to make them just right for your students’ needs! 

Have students watch these videos to get a sense of some of the problems we face with our environment. One video talks about 5 specific problems in Mexico, their causes and their consequences. It is a short video, but the narrator speaks rather fast. This resource comes with a comprehension guide in graphic organizer format, or you may choose to use the multiple choice Edpuzzle version. I find that the Edpuzzle version is a good scaffold to aid student comprehension because the questions can be inserted right after the information has been provided! This Edpuzzle is also auto-graded to save you time and to give students instant feedback! The second video is about what would happen if all the ice in the world were to melt. It talks about the possibilities and the human and animal consequences that would occur. This video is accompanied by short answer comprehension questions.

Of course, both viewing guides come with a teacher answer key, and all questions can be edited to suit your needs!

Environmental challenges is a great theme to explore as a Global Challenge, or as part of the Science and Technology Unit.  These videos could be a great source for a debate as this topic can be controversial!

Are you using Extempore to manage your Spanish students' speaking tasks? These 5 speaking activities focus on the preterite and imperfect with the theme of travel. Using a Google Doc, this resource contains 5 links to ready-to-use Extempore speaking activities! Under each link in the Google Doc, there is a description of what each Extempore speaking task is like. (For example, some have picture prompts, some focus on just preterite or just imperfect, and others ask students to tell a a story using both tenses).

Unit 6 of AP® Spanish explores environmental, political and global challenges. Use these 5 resources to introduce the topic and get students interested and talking about it right away! Take away the stress of starting a new unit- you have everything you need to set the stage for this last unit!

First- the "Hook" activity! A Google Slides presentation with provocative images of different global challenges. In each slide, in the speaker notes, there is a speaking prompt the teacher can read to students. Use this as a turn and talk activity to involve everyone at once!

Next, a vocabulary list that introduces words that will be important to have for the unit to better understand the different sources students will examine in class. Included with this vocab list is a pre-made Quizlet for student practice!

Third, there are 2 vocab activities for students to practice using the new words. I usually assign these for homework, but they can be used as in class activities as well.

Last, your essential questions! Guide your unit with these questions.

The Global Challenges unit of AP Spanish® has many interesting contexts, including the environment. This digital and printable article talks about the effects of global warming all around the world. Students can complete this via a Google Doc or by doing the auto-graded goformative version. Students who prefer paper copies can have a print-out! Save time searching the net to find a good article, and save more time by letting goformative grade this for you! This digital and printable article talks about the effects of global warming in Antarctica, and explains the paradox of how rising temperatures actually cause more snow! Distance learners can complete this via a Google Doc or by doing the auto-graded goformative version. Students who prefer paper copies can have a print-out! Save time searching the net to find a good article, and save more time by letting goformative grade this for you! Another benefit to the goformative version is that students can see the article side by side with the questions, and the questions are embedded just where they can find the answer! It's a great scaffold for students still developing their reading comprehension skills!

Have you head the Notes in Spanish podcasts? Do you use Edpuzzle? For AP Spanish® Unit 6, I made an MP4 recording of the audio for the podcast about Climate Change, and uploaded it to Edpuzzle! I inserted multiple choice, auto-graded questions into the recording to help students to find the right spot in the podcast to find the answer. The auto-grading of Edpuzzle is not only a time-saver for teachers, but allows students to have feedback on what answers they got right or wrong!

Are you using Extempore to manage your Spanish students' speaking tasks? These 5 speaking activities focus on the future tense with the theme what life events will happen in the future. Using a Google Doc, this resource contains 5 links to ready-to-use Extempore speaking activities! Under each link in the Google Doc, there is a description of what each Extempore speaking task is like. (For example, some have picture prompts, some focus on present and future, and others ask students to tell a a story using connected sentences).

All shared Extempore shared activities can be edited in a variety of ways to meet your students' needs. For example, you can edit the start and end date/time of each task, you can change the questions, you can add or delete questions, and you can choose how you would like your students to answer (video, audio or text). These Spanish Scenario Task Cards are designed to increase skill and confidence with creative speaking and writing!  Scenario Task Cards are a great, NO PREP way to get your Spanish 2, 3 and 4 and even AP Spanish students speaking or writing every day! They have open-ended prompts for students to use to tell a story orally or on paper.   (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)  

First, this bundle includes 17 different themes!  Consider your daily warm-up for the year DONE with no prep!

There are 20 different scenarios per theme which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. Each set of scenario cards come in 3 versions!  First,  a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class.  (Perfect for a warm-up!) The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. 

Some cards provide helpful vocab that students may need to discuss the scenario. Some sets come with a vocab list that can be printed (maybe laminated) so that students can integrate related vocabulary that they may not know already.

These situation task cards feature scenarios perfect for practicing talking about many of the life events that are common to teens, and common to most Spanish curriculum and Seal of Biliteracy tests.   The prompts ask students to talk about themselves and others in present, past and future time frames.  The prompts are in English. Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!
