Drawing Art: Jacob Lawrence Storefront Scene.

By Art Shack by JB

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Jacob Lawrence Storefront Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use 18 x 24 white paper for this unit, since this will be a rather large artwork. This unit should last 4-(50 minute) class periods. I allowed the use of crayon for larger areas on the paper (like the sky, road, sidewalk, and buildings). I allowed the use of colored pencils for small, detailed areas. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

Jesse Owens Escape Room Bundle | BOOM Cards™ Digital & Print Versions

By Creative Primary Literacy

A BOOM Cards™ Escape Room Activity & a printable Escape Room Activity about the legendary American Olympic superstar, Jesse Owens. The NO PREP activities are ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in fifth grade or sixth grade.

Both activities have been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room.

The resources are great for:

  • Distance learning
  • Independent work
  • Homework
  • Guided reading sessions
  • Team building lessons
  • Emergency sub plans
  • Reading interventions

The digital, BOOM Cards version is ideal for distance learning and the activity can be completed on tablets, phones or computers. The printable version comes in PDF format perfect for printing or uploading.

⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻

For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

Both activities follow a similar format, with slight variances to the BOOM Cards version to allow the resource to be digital and self-marking.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Jesse Owens and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about the 1900s, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

Drawing Art: Jacob Lawrence Storefront Scene. Fall/Autumn.

Enjoy.
