For many children, the first thought that comes to mind when winter approaches is “snow day!” The winter can be a time of hibernation as it is cold outside, many extracurricular activities have slowed down, and the days get darker much earlier. When children are cooped up inside, they can become restless and bored quite easily. However, the winter yoga sequence is a great way to promote physical activity and encourage movement during a restless time.

Students need to know they are valued and appreciated. One way to let them know is to present them with certificates, whether you present it publicly, privately, staple it to their assignment being returned to them or, if they have a student folder or journal with pockets, simply place it inside for them to find! Surprise! You are valued!

Each is created with a colorful background but can be reproduced in black and white as well. In addition, each has a inspiring quote such as the following:

This Weekly Visual Schedule Set is a great way to support students who are learning the days of the week by allowing them to plan out their week using a visual schedule format they are familiar with. Knowing the activities that are coming up throughout the week can help students to reduce anxiety and increase predictability. Images are appropriate for high school students, as well as for primary and intermediate students.

This set also includes a first/then board, as well as a mini schedule for students to be able to break down activities into smaller parts.

Visual schedules are a tool used for students with exceptionalities, but particularly for those with autism, to help transition between activities and places, follow a routine, know what to expect in their day, and develop new skills.  The schedule allows a sequence of pictures and words to be arranged in order so that students can set and follow a weekly schedule.  The schedule can also be used to break large tasks or events down into smaller steps using the included mini schedule.  Having a visual schedule can be a help to reduce challenging behaviour by increasing predictability.
