If you have been looking to implement the Building Thinking Classrooms model of instruction, but don't know where to start, this is a great resource for you.\n\nThis lesson includes the following materials:\n\n* Description of how I run a \"Thin Slicing\" lesson using Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces in my own classroom.\n* 11 Full-Size Task Cards on solving systems of equations using the substitution method\n* Answers for all Task Cards\n* \"Notes To My Future Forgetful Self\" Student Notes Template\n* Student Notes answer key\n* \"Check Your Understanding\" student Exit Ticket\n* Exit Ticket answer key\n\nThis lesson will help your students learn how to solve systems of equations using the substitution method, encourages rich math discussion, and introduces various strategies for solving by substitution. This lesson starts with a very low floor to encourage access for all students, and provides a high ceiling with extension questions. Once complete, students can use the provided notes template to record their thinking, as well as a \"Check Your Understanding\" exit ticket to give you and your students formative assessment feedback on how they are understanding the topic.\n\n**This lesson is the 1st in a 3-part series for 8th grade systems of equations. By EZMath
This lesson has everything you need to teach a "Thin Slicing" lesson on solving systems of equations algebraically using the elimination method (8.EE.8b). This lesson uses Building Thinking Classrooms strategies for teaching math created by Peter Liljedahl. If you have been looking to implement the Building Thinking Classrooms model of instruction, but don't know where to start, this is a great resource for you.
This lesson includes the following materials:
This lesson will help your students learn how to solve systems of equations using the elimination method, encourages rich math discussion, and introduces various strategies for solving by elimination. This lesson starts with a very low floor to encourage access for all students, and provides a high ceiling with extension questions. Once complete, students can use the provided notes template to record their thinking, as well as a "Check Your Understanding" exit ticket to give you and your students formative assessment feedback on how they are understanding the topic.
This lesson is the 2nd in a 3-part series for 8th grade systems of equations. The two other lessons are:
1. Solving Systems By Substitution Thin Slicing Lesson - 8th Grade Math 8.EE.8b

NEW! World Geography Summer Camp Week 1 — Geography Basics Map Skills
By Geography & Math Made Easy
Geography summer school and camps don't give us enough time to cover all the concepts and topics that need to be covered. Squeezing the curriculum
8 months is difficult; covering it over 6-8 weeks is impossible. There is so much information and so little time. This leaves us as educators with the question of what are the important aspects to cover. Having taught middle school level and high school level geography for 11 years, I have pulled out what I feel is a must!
A working knowledge of geography concepts is helpful in teaching this material. If you do not understand geography or if you have never taught geography before, no problem! Simply, read through the student material so you can help your students understand and complete the included activities. Before presenting it to your students, this will require a little mental preparation; however, this resource will save you 20+ hours of resource prep.
This lesson is composed of the first five days (Week 1).
Day 1: 5 Geography Themes
Day 2: Maps, Graphs & Charts + Follow-up Quiz
(Pie Chart, Bar Graph, Line Graph, Cartogram, Political Map, Physical Map, Climate Map, Learning to read Latitude and Longitude.)
Day 3: Looking at geography through a social, economic, political and cultural lens + Follow-up Quiz
(Understanding the meaning behind social, economic, political and cultural aspects)
Day 4: World Governments & Three Branches of Government+ Follow-up Quiz (Direct Democracy, Constitutional Democracy, Absolute Monarchy, Constitutional Monarchy, Oligarchy, Communism, Socialism)
Day 5: Types of Economic Industries + Follow-up Quiz
(Four Types of Economy, Pure market economy, a pure command economy, a mixed economy, and a traditional economy, Free Enterprise + Four Industries: primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary)
Week 2-8 Coming Soon!

Extremely satisfied ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this resource to send home at the end of kindergarten as many parents want to continue to give their child learning opportunities during the summer. It is also a good introduction to what students will learn in 1st grade and parents are able to see what their child needs to work on. If parents would like, they can use this resource to introduce students to 1st-grade concepts before the school year starts.

Teach kids about gratitude through yoga and mindfulness
Teaching kids about gratitude is a mindset that will benefit them for years to come. Research tells us that gratitude has many benefits, including greater life satisfaction and better attitudes about school.
Gratitude provides perspective for kids–they can learn to see through the eyes of others, and through that, they can learn to form healthy relationships with themselves and others.
For children, gratitude can be experienced through direct experience, through dramatization, and through adult modeling. We’ve included games, meditations, activities, crafts, and yoga poses to help get in touch with a sense of gratitude.
We hope you enjoy it!
Printable Gratitude Yoga Cards
Use this yoga and mindfulness activity packet to teach little ones about gratitude. Print and cut out our six yoga cards and use them in the classroom, yoga studio, or at home! Also included are written instructions for kids, giving cues for children to correctly practice each pose.
