Geography summer school and camps don't give us enough time to cover all the concepts and topics that need to be covered. Squeezing the curriculum

8 months is difficult; covering it over 6-8 weeks is impossible. There is so much information and so little time. This leaves us as educators with the question of what are the important aspects to cover. ✅ This resource includes 24 Leadership Scenario Task Cards with questions and without questions (both Colored and B&W). The Task Cards include questions that encourages students to think about the different aspects of leadership in various situations: conflict resolution, delivering feedback, effective communication, delegating responsibilities, filtering your thoughts, etc.

✅ These Task Cards can be used as part of a larger lesson, in guided small groups, whole-class discussions, partner discussion before sharing out with the larger group or class, or even one-on-one with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian!

How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards

✨ Role-Playing: The scenarios provide students with opportunities to discuss, understand, and role play the variety of effective ways they can show leadership and maintain positive interactions with people. Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios included in the Task Cards and worksheets and demonstrate appropriate responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to demonstrate how to appropriately handle or address difficult situations through effective communication. Students can practice and learn the variety of ways they can handle situations that test their ability to understand others’ points of views, filter their thoughts, respond appropriately and maturely, and communicate effectively. These activities can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.

✨ Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.

✨ Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.

✨ Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses: How would you show leadership in this situation? How would you respond in this situation? What strategies can you use to motivate your team members to "follow" you? Students can swap papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/situations.

✨ Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class.

100 Common French Expressions

Common French expressions, interjections, and sentence starters are a great way to spice up conversations, increase vocabulary, and sound more French. The grammar in these expressions is varied, so this resource is fine for all levels (even beginners).

The idea is to not worry about WHY things are said this way in French, but instead to encourage our students to accept it and memorize these 100 short expressions, interjections, and sentence starters. My students have a lot of fun using these!

All of the words and expressions are spoken slowly, and students are given time to repeat them aloud. English translations are included for all 100 expressions on the video recording. Students will notice that the English versions are almost never direct translations, which is interesting to note! An audio recording is included so you can share this to have your students practice almost anywhere (even on the way to school)!

Included:

1. Video recording with all 100 expressions written in French and English - 18 minutes
2. Audio recording for listening comprehension and pronunciation practice - 18 minutes
3. Set of 100 practice cards to print, cut out, and use over and over again

How to use the set of practice cards:

Have students print and cut out the set of 100 French expressions cards, and hook them together with a ring. Expressions are written in French at the top, and in English at the bottom. As they practice and master these expressions by using the video and audio recordings, they can test themselves frequently with the stack of cards. When they feel confident with a word or French expression, they can take a pair of scissors and CUT OFF THE ENGLISH translation on the dotted line. They'll eventually have a handy set of French only cards to pull out any time they'd like to review.
