French speaking game - Je n'ai jamais - For beginners and advanced students
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
This low prep activity is a French speaking game for beginners and advanced students, All students can practice speaking and forming the passé composé with verbs that use both être and avoir as helping verbs, including reflexive verbs.
The way the cards are organized even beginners can use them and have a great time playing this fun speaking game. Students practice saying "je n'ai jamais" or "j'ai déjà" followed by something they may or may not have done. There is a stack of cards with French and English and another stack with only French.
Use this game in class with small groups or at a French club event. you can cut out the cards and include the "how to play" card so that if you have a very large group they can read the instructions without you having to explain the game. Just print out the cards, laminate if possible, punch holes in the upper corner and attach with a ring. A fun no prep activity for years to come!
Included with this resource:
How the game works:
Begin your sentence with "Je n'ai jamais" if you have never done what is written on the card. Begin with "J'ai déjà" if you have.
Other players can react in a variety of ways:
If you say that you have done something (and you're not a beginner) you have to tell the story about when you did what is on the card in French.
What some teachers are saying about this French speaking activity:
Used this with my French III classes today as a warm-up to review negation. Students were completely engaged and really enjoyed the activity. My supervisor walked in for an observation just after we started the activity, and when she left the room, one student remarked "You did good, Madame!" It was really them doing all the work, but he was right. She loved the activity, too. Merci!
I just love this activity because it gives students a chance to speak without a whole lot of pressure. I always do this with 2 circles of students, the interior circle facing the exterior circle. They enjoy getting up out of their seats for awhile, and of course, the activities listed are interesting.
I can't wait to use these in class today. These last few days before break are always so rough. These looks like something that will keep the students busy.
My senior high students LOVED this. Great to find French speaking activities that appeal to them and are fun.

French Present Tense - La Routine Quotidienne Reading & Listening Comprehension
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Are you looking for materials to help your French students with reading and listening comprehension? This unique story and lesson will keep your students' attention, and it is ready to go and doesn't require any prep on your end.
Read and listen to a narrative story in French about Vanessa's daily routine - la routine quotidienne - in the present tense. Students will practice and strengthen reading, writing, and listening skills.
Many different French verbs are used in the present tense including regular verbs, irregular verbs, and reflexive verbs. Some verbs are used with various forms of negation.
This story is available in 6 tenses and in a money-saving bundle:
Included:
➯ STEP 1: Listen to the audio recording of a typical day in the life of Vanessa. See how much you can understand without reading along. It's only a little more than two minutes long, so you can listen to it a few times if necessary.
➯ STEP 2: Listen and read along at the same time with the French only version of the text.
➯ STEP 3: Read the French and English version of the text and notice how the sentence structure changes when comparing the two languages. Take note of any new vocabulary or expressions.
➯ STEP 4: Gap fill exercise #1 - Fill in the blanks with verbs as you listen once again to the audio recording. Check your work with the French only version of the text.
➯ STEP 5: Gap fill exercise #2 - Improve listening skills and comprehension of syntax while increasing your vocabulary. This time, rather than filling in the blanks with verbs, you will listen closely to all of the other words and write what's missing in the exercise. Check your work with the French only version of the text.
Ready to use French stories save loads of time when you unexpectedly need to miss a day and provide substitute material.
My French stories in 6 tenses are perfect for emergency sub plans that do not require advanced preparation or elaborate instructions. Just print the stories and supplementary materials and you’ll have a fun exercise ready for your students when you can't be there.

Bataille Navale - Passé composé with AVOIR - Regular verbs
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to practice forming the PASSÉ COMPOSÉ using AVOIR as helping verb with regular verbs.
*There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers.
.
➯ This resource is included in my Ça y est, je parle français! French 1 curriculum bundle!
This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies and instructions on how to play.
All battleship games are also sold separately for $4 each. Check out my collection of BATAILLE NAVALE games!
Just print out one page of the version you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. Check out game instructions in the preview file.
Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the passé composé using avoir as helping verb. If you wanted to practice writing in the passé composé you could have your students do that.
All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent.
You and your students may also enjoy my collection of passé composé resources.

J'ai... Qui a? French food vocabulary game - La nourriture
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
This is a really fun game to practice with your students who are learning vocabulary about LA NOURRITURE, and it involves NO PREP once you've printed and cut out the cards. I've included both a beginner and intermediate version of the game. The beginner version has the words written out and the intermediate version only shows pictures. Have a look at the thumbnails to see what they look like.
➯ This resource is part of my Primary French Growing Bundle
➯ This resource is also included in my NOURRITURE bundle
Each version includes 32 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again.
You may also enjoy 30 French speaking questions - La nourriture - Food
Here's how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says "Je commence" starts the game. He says, for example, Je commence! J'ai une fraise. Qui a une orange? The person who has the card with an orange on it says, J'ai une orange. Qui a du bacon? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, "J'ai fini!"
Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. If the vocabulary is completely new you could start out with the beginner deck and as the words become more familiar you could move on to the intermediate level. It's really a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.

French Futur Simple - La Routine Quotidienne Reading & Listening Comprehension
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Are you looking for materials to help your French students with reading and listening comprehension? This unique story and lesson will keep your students' attention, and it is ready to go and doesn't require any prep on your end.
Read and listen to a narrative story in French about Vanessa's daily routine - la routine quotidienne - in the futur simple tense.
Check out my Build Your Own French Bundle option. Select resources from my store, and if they total $20 or more I'll quickly create a special order bundle for you at 20% off. No sale items or other already discounted bundles can be included.

French Prepositions of Location Reading, Writing, Review Task Cards Activity
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
French Prepositions of Location- Reading and Writing Activity and Practice Cards
As your students learn French prepositions of location it is nice to have several exercises and activities planned to get in as much practice as possible. Read below to see everything that is included in this comprehensive lesson on prepositions of location for beginners. This resource is included in my French Prepositions of Location Bundle.
➯ This resource is also included in my Ça y est, je parle français! French 1 curriculum bundle!
This lesson includes 16 of the most essential prepositions students need when they want to say (or ask someone) where something is located.
Included:
➯ Lesson guide: All of the images on the lesson guide are also included in the Quizlet study set link that you will receive and on the practice cards.
➯ Translation exercise: This exercise looks like the lesson guide, but this time the French is missing! Students are asked to translate sentences from the lesson guide from English to French. Images are included.
➯ Reading and writing activity: This is a reading exercise about a tidy bedroom and a writing exercise about an untidy one. There is a paragraph to read about a tidy bedroom. The idea is to see if you can figure out what it means even if you don't know all of the vocabulary. The prepositions of location are used as context clues. The next part of this activity is to write ten sentences of your own about the image provided featuring an untidy bedroom. A list of useful vocabulary is provided and a quizlet study set as well. This list of vocabulary itemizes everything seen in the bedroom so that you can focus on the writing activity rather than looking up words in the dictionary. This is an excellent way to increase vocabulary.
➯ Practice cards: Use this set of 16 practice cards (French only) to form creative sentences about where things are located no matter where your students may be. I recommend printing the cards and cutting them out so that you can have them handy and ready to use when you feel like it. You can use them to talk about where things are located at home, in your car, in town, at work, at the bookstore... Anywhere!

French Regular ER Verbs Listening Comprehension & Writing Storyboard Activity
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
If you're struggling to find an original and engaging activity for your beginner French students to practice and review regular ER verbs, you are going to love these listening comprehension and writing activities in the present tense. Peek at the preview for a closer look at these fun storyboard activities which also exist for IR verbs, RE verbs, and in a money saving bundle!
These activities can be used for listening comprehension and written production at the same time, instructions included.
If your students have access to colored pencils you may choose to use the recordings that indicate which color they should use to draw and write. The color they should use is clearly indicated in French at the beginning or appropriate time in the reading of the sentence.
A recording without the use of colors is also included.
Some students will say they can’t draw, but stick figures should be encouraged! None of the sentences represent a real drawing challenge.
Included in this French listening comprehension resource bundle:
No answer keys are provided for the drawings due to the nature of the activity. However, assessment is very simple for the teacher! All you have to do is glance over the drawings. Answer keys are provided for written responses should you opt to use this as a dictation exercise.
What teachers like you are saying about my "storyboard" activities:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Students enjoyed this activity! It definitely helped them understand vocabulary we've been working on." - French and English Teacher in the US
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This combines two things that I have a tough time getting right: listening and writing. Most listening things are much too difficult for my F1 students. This is perfect." - Mikal T.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Love this! Great for a variety of grade and ability levels." - Lisa M.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Nice listening activity, and could be used as a formative assessment." - Tina S.
