Less than $5 Homeschool German Activities (by date, oldest first)

My favourite game to practice German verb conjugations (schwache, starke, trennbare, reflexive, Misch-, Modalverben, Verben auf -eln und -ern**.** It can be used in any tense. No prep, just PRINT AND GO.

This is my go-to game when I need to drill some grammar into my students. It's by far the most efficient grammar game. I love it because it's so easy to use. And my students love it because it doesn't feel like learning when, in fact, they do a TON of learning. We can easily spend the whole lesson playing battleship and they want to keep on playing even after the bell rings.

It's also a great activity for substitute lessons or when I'm in a time press and don't have much time to prepare for a lesson.

How to play:

• It can be played in pairs or in small teams
• Hide your ships in the left field. They mustn't touch.
• Form sentences in order to "hit" the enemy ships in the right field.
• If your enemy hits your ship, indicate that in the left field. If you hit your enemy's ship, mark it down in the right field. If you miss, mark it down as well. If you hit your enemy's ship, have another go.
• To win, sink all of your enemy's ships before he sinks yours.

The 9 sheets focus on:

1. schwache Verben - weak verbs
2. starke Verben - strong verbs
3. Verben auf -eln und -ern - verbs ending in -eln and -ern

5. reflexive Verben mit Akkusativ - reflexive verbs accusative
6. reflexive Verben mit Dativ - reflexive verbs dativ
7. Modalverben + wissen - modal verbs and the verb wissen
8. Mischverben - mixed verbs
9. and as a BONUS ein und kein im Akkusativ - ein and kein in accusative

How to use:

1. Ich habe..., wer hat...? Card Game

Print out, cut up. It can be played in small or large groups. Hand out all of

the cards to pupils, each has roughly the same number of cards. The student

with the 1st card starts by asking Wer hat... The pupil with the matching

card replies Ich habe... and asks Wer hat...? The game finishes when pupils get to the last card.

During the activity teacher monitors the correct use of articles.

2. Cut and Paste Picture Dictionary

Each pupil gets 1 set of picture cards and 1 set of word cards. Pupils cut them

out. They can either glue them onto the provided sheets or in their notebooks.

Make sure they glue the picture and word cards in the correct article

category.

How to use Trimino puzzle:

Fun outdoors activity to teach your students animals and plants that can be seen in the meadows in Europe. Contains two versions of Scavenger hunt so you can select the one best suited to your students' needs.

HOW TO USE:

• in order to gain points, students need to spot plants and animals (and a molehill ) from their list and tick them off
• they get a point for each ticked off box
• if they manage to snap a picture of the plant / animal / molehill, they earn an extra point
• whoever gets the most points is the winner
