How can you use these task cards?

⭐Have the task cards available in makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, as a reward, or available for early finishers to complete using ANY available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!

⭐Use one card or slide a day during morning time. Have students fill out a STEAM / STEM worksheet or slide, and discuss as a class.

⭐Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build and then show and tell with the class or their parents. They can discuss what they made, liked, what they would improve, and how it solved the problem on the task cards. They can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.

The “Learning MS Word” Beginner Lessons start students with no previous knowledge of Microsoft Word on a path of learning the most important and frequently used commands to give them a quick start. Each lesson has a short, step-by-step tutorial that includes screenshots to walk students through the new tools they will use in the lesson. The “Learning MS PowerPoint” Beginner Lessons start students with no previous knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint on a path of learning the most important and frequently used commands to give them a quick start.

Each lesson has a short, step-by-step tutorial that includes screenshots to walk students through the new tools they will use in the lesson. Then, they are given a creative task to solve, using those skills to create a presentation. There are four lessons, each taking no more than two (50 minute) class periods.

Versions of the lesson are included for MS PowerPoint 2013/2016, and Office 365 (MS PowerPoint 2019).

This lesson was created for middle school students (grades 6-8) but could also be used for upper elementary or high school students.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
