Looking for ways to engage your students when teaching the French futur simple tense? Just print and go with this set of French board games, crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles, and worksheet activities to conjugate all irregular and some regular verb stems in the futur simple. Board Games: Some boxes require students to conjugate the verb using the provided subject pronoun, and others require them to name the subject pronoun that matches the verb conjugation. Lots of repetition will really help them to memorize French verbs in the futur simple. There are a few fun tricks along the way, so getting to the end isn’t always so easy.

In groups of two to four, players take turns rolling a die to move their pieces forward. Spaces are numbered to keep track of which way they’re moving. There are some spaces with special instructions:

• Départ - Start
• Avance de 5 cases - Move forward 5 spaces
• Recule de 5 cases - Move backward 5 spaces
• Rejoue - Play again
• Tu perds ton tour - Lose a turn
• Fin - End

For an extra challenge and to extend playing time, you can tell your students that they have to land directly on the last square and answer it correctly to win. 

Worksheets: One page worksheets - Half of each page requires students to fill in subject pronouns, and the other half requires them to conjugate the verb. This is a great way to prep for the board game!

Crosswords: One more excellent way to review conjugating regular and irregular verbs in the futur simple.

Sudoku puzzles: Your students will review verb stems and endings while exercising their brains in a different way with a sudoku puzzle!

Instructions

One grid to print out and make one copy for each student in your class. There are sixteen squares on the grid. Each square contains one question and a space to write a classmate’s name.

Have your students move around the room asking classmates the questions that are written in the squares on the grid that you provide. If a classmate responds with OUI he or she writes his name on the line provided. Complete sentences are encouraged even when the answer is NON. Activity continues until all boxes are filled. Once all of the boxes have been signed your students can turn in their papers.

This is a fun, interactive way to review vocabulary and to practice oral production and listening comprehension. Your students will enjoy learning fun facts about their classmates, and you will certainly like hearing them speak French!
