• In the second task, students will read 8 facts about St. Patrick and must identify the parts of speech of underlined words within the passages. When matched correctly, shaded boxes will reveal the second code.
• In the third task, students will perform a close reading of one of Ireland's most beloved poems, Raglan Road, by Patrick Kavanagh. Then, they will answer multiple choice questions about the poem. Letters of the correct answers reveal their third code.
• In the fourth task, students must solve a word maze. Letters collected along the way form the fourth code.
• In the final task, students will be quizzed on what they learned throughout the first four tasks and enter their answers to St. Paddy's Day trivia questions in a fun crossword puzzle. • The OG Valentine's Day: In the first task, students must pick out sentence fragments and run-ons within a passage about the origins of Valentine's Day.
• What's Funny, Honey?: In the second task, students will read through 8 funny quotes about love and identify the parts of speech of words within each quote.
• Ah-Mazing: In the third task, students must solve four word mazes.
• What is Love? Baby Don't Hurt Me: In the fourth task, students must correct past tense verbs within a passage about love.
• How Will I Know?: In the final task, students must identify the parts of speech within a question. Then, they must input all 5 codes into a famous quote about love. Once complete, they must bring to you to escape!

How does it work?

Your students thought they had a grammar test today, instead, you fooled them with an escape room! They are stuck in your classroom until they solve 5 grammar-based tasks about April Fool's Day!

• Don't Be a Crank, It's Just a Prank: In the first task, students will read 8 fun prank ideas (like the classic cream cheese on the toothbrush trick). In each passage, one word is underlined. Students must identify the part of speech of the underlined word by assembling a mat puzzle that, when assembled correctly, will reveal their first code.
• Spaghetti Tree: In the second task, students will read about the epic "Spaghetti Tree" prank done by the British media. In each paragraph there is an incorrect homophone. Students must identify the homophones and write them correctly on their answer sheet. Shaded boxes within each answer will form their code.
• April Foolin' Around the World: In the third task, students must match facts about April Fool's Day around the world to the type of sentence it is (declarative, interrogative, subjunctive, imperative, conditional) by drawing a line connecting the sentence with its type. Letters not intersected by these lines will form their third code.
• Fool Me Once: In the fourth task, students will read 8 "fool" quotes. Each one is missing a comma. Students must insert the comma in the correct place, then write down the word before it. Shaded boxes within each answer reveal the fourth code.
• Encrypted Message: In the final task, students must decode an encrypted message (a Shakespeare quote about the joy of April) from the codes they collected along the way.

• Figuratively Speaking: In the first task, your child must identify the figurative language device used in popular 2020 songs. Shaded boxes in the correct answers form the first code which leads to the next task.
• Lit Match: In the second task, your child must match literary terms with their definitions by drawing a line connecting them. Letters not intersected by the lines form their second code leading to the next task..
• Where The Heart Is: In the third task, your child must identify the part of speech used in inspirational quotes about home. Shaded letters within the correct answers form the third code which leads to the next task.
• Ah-Mazing: In the fourth task, your child must solve a word maze. Letters collected along the way form the fourth code leading to the next task.
