Use this Spanish Christmas ornament writing activity to decorate your classroom tree and to get your Spanish students in the holiday spirit! Students will choose 1 of the 8 mandala ornaments to decorate or create their own with the blank version provided. Then they will practice their Spanish writing skills while writing about their greatest gift and responding to the prompt, "Mi mejor regalo es." Afterward, they can cut and glue that to their ornament and hang them on your class Christmas tree or bulletin board!

What's Included:

• A PDF Document with 8 Mandala Ornaments for students to choose from
• Ornaments for responding to "Mi mejor regalo es..."
• One blank ornament for students to create their own mandalas

Directions:

• Students will choose a mandala ornament to decorate or use the blank one provided to make their own.
• After decorating their ornaments, students will respond to the prompt, "Mi mejor regalo es..." using the writing-lined ornament.
• Next, students will cut out their mandala and writing ornament and glue the lined writing ornament to the back of their mandala ornament.
• Last, laminate and cut them out, hole punch the top, and add a string! Hang them on your classroom tree or bulletin board display.

Looking for a fun way to practice writing in the preterite and imperfect? Encourage detail and accuracy and give specific feedback FAST! These vacation themed prompts practice Spanish preterite vs imperfect writing prompt has a vacation theme that is perfect to help your students achieve the next level of ACTFL proficiency. Students can work collaboratively in groups to create a high quality writing piece for a real-world purpose.

This activity provides an interesting writing topic about a past vacation and a way for students to collaborate in order to produce a sophisticated piece of writing. Motivate students by giving them the choice to write about the vacation of their dreams or the vacation of their nightmares! This prompt is designed for the preterite and imperfect tenses, but can be customized to your needs. Use my ideas for how to make sure each group member is an active and accountable participant!  Provide specific and timely feedback to students without spending hours grading!

• Students at the Novice High level and up can use this

How could this product be used?

There are many ways to use this fully customizable writing prompt.  This product includes full teacher instructions about how to use this as a group writing activity and how to hold all group members accountable. This writing challenge could be used as a formative assessment for a grade or it could be used as a practice before a formal writing assessment. The teacher instructions include specific ways to provide feedback to students on their writing without needing to grade every student's paper.

Spanish writing prompts, especially when you make them into a group challenge, are a great way to get your Spanish 2, 3 or students writing, improving and learning from others!  

Your Spanish students will look forward to working together to create writing that meets and exceeds the standards you’re looking for!  Writing together allows peers to learn from each other and takes away some of the pressure when writing alone. The themes are relevant and interesting to students and promote creativity with language. 

All of these resources help give the teacher the resource of time!  The group challenges provide you the chance to offer specific feedback, but on just one paper per group instead of one for every student!  And peer editing is another way for students to receive feedback without the need for the teacher to correct everything.

This lesson encourages students to differentiate between small, medium and big problems as well as exploring potential reaction sizes. This resource is reflective in nature allowing for open discussion and reflections to encourage students to brainstorm and generate solutions and ideas for various problems.
