How to Use:

2. Designate a Calm Down Area: Set up a quiet, comfortable space in your classroom with calming resources like mindful coloring sheets, sensory tools, and relaxation prompts.
3. Distribute the Pass: When a student feels overwhelmed, they can ask for the pass. You can also offer it proactively if you notice a student struggling.
4. Time for Reflection: Allow the student to spend a few minutes in the calm down area to relax and regain focus.
5. Positive Reinforcement: After the break, engage in a brief conversation with the student about their feelings and reinforce the positive choice they made.

What’s in this pack?

This pack contains a set of 8 questions on the subject of Algebra free of charge to give you a sample of our task cards. The questions in this pack are unique to our main task card bundle, which can be purchased here.

The questions include simple real life situations, nth term questions and sequences, working with simple algebraic equations, and geometry related questions. The cards introduce the idea that algebra has a function in the real world, providing a strong base for the continued learning of Algebra.

Each question is differentiated in 4 ways across 4 cards. The easiest are the Red Questions and then the Yellow. The Green cards offer a little more challenge by asking additional questions, and finally the Challenge cards are designed to push the most able.

-Cut out cards and place them around the room or hallway.

-Give each student a recording sheet and assign them a starting problem.

-Each answer leads to the next card, and students will end up in the same place they started upon completion of the loop.

Level Ups are a fun way for your students to practice or review defining functions and comparing functions. Aligned to the common core standards, this Level Ups activity includes 5 differentiated tasks that increase in rigor. The task cards begin with pre-requisite skills involving identifying the slope and y-intercept of linear functions in different representations, then "level up" all the way to creating and comparing functions that are both linear and non-linear.

Students start at level zero and work their way up to level 4, giving them accurate feedback on what they have mastered, and what they still need to work on. This lesson works as a great way to review what is and is not a function, or as preparation for an upcoming assessment.

This activity includes:

-Five levels with 6 - 11 questions each.

-Complete answer keys for each level.

Ever needed a review activity on solving equations that was fun and engaging for your students? Team Target Review is a cooperative and competitive activity designed to get students thinking, talking, and working together.

Teams of 2-4 students work together to complete increasing levels of difficulty on solving equations. As students progress, you can quickly assess mastery and give intervention help on the spot.

This activity works great as an engaging review session before an assessment, a quick(ish) activity on one of those pesky minimum days where you have limited time, or as part of a block period when you want to break up the direct instruction.
