These low prep tear off strips bring a fun, active element to practicing letter sound fluency. My small group intervention students beg for this activity!

Display the 8 colorful sheets of tear off strips around the room. Students tear off one strip at a time and practice the row of 10 letter sounds 3 times to increase fluency. Then they can read their strip for the teacher or a classmate before choosing another sheet to tear from.

This drawing journal was created for my kindergarten students after years of students asking me how to draw people, backgrounds, etc. when we began writing. Illustrations are the basis of students writing at the early stages, and too often we as teachers assume students know how to draw. This was a total game changer in my classroom! Not only were students less frustrated, but I could devote more time to the actual writing because I was not having to help each student with their drawings. This is a MUST in any pre-k - first classroom before beginning writing! This alphabet activity uses different manipulatives or craft supplies to fill in letter and number mats for a hands-on approach to practice letter recognition and formation. These mats are no prep unless you choose to laminate them, then they are a great low prep alphabet center activity for young learners.
