These Color Wheels Clip Cards are perfect for practicing those and recognizing colors. Learners will have fun with these bright, colorful wheels.

• This printable is included in the Clip Cards Bundle.

These hands-on and engaging Color Wheels are designed for young children who are learning to recognize their colors and are able to differentiate between them.

Children will use wooden clothespin and clip the sides that match the colors in the center of the wheel.

For each wheel learners only need to clip four options. For example, for the color red, learners will clip carrot, safety cone, basketball and tiger. They will leave out frog, ladybug, ballet shoes and bird, since these sides are not red.

The printable contains wheels for 11 colors. There are a total of 12 wheels. There are two version for the color 'grey' and 'gray'.

How it Works:

1. Students may start at ANY card with their pencil and paper on a clipboard. If this is too much to carry: Adjust the activity, by “hiding” the cards around the classroom writing surfaces such as tables and desks and have a pencil at each station.

2. Write the number of the starting card in the top left square.

3. Look at the picture, say what it is and think about the initial (beginning) sounds.

4. Walk around the room searching for that letter located in the oval in the top right of another card that matches the picture

5. When found, write the Beginning Sound on the line in the first box.

6. Following the arrow on their paper to box 2, write the number of this card in the box on the top left.

7. Repeat until all boxes are full. Students should return to starting card when completed.

Directions

Rolling the Die:

• Students roll a six-sided die to determine which sight word they will read.
• Students can also scan the QR code on the worksheet using a device with a QR code scanner to access a virtual dice roller.

Reading the Nonsense Word:

• Students match the number rolled with the corresponding nonsense word on their worksheet.
• Students read the word out loud.
• Students should focus on pronouncing each word correctly and quickly.

Marking Progress:

• Once students read a nonsense word, they should highlight or color the box. They could also cover it with a counter or place marker etc.
• If students roll a number they have already completed, they should roll again until they land on a new word.
• Students continue rolling and reading until they have completed all the nonsense words on their worksheets.

Find the Snowman Game

Practice recognizing letters and numbers with this fun game. Place number or letter cards in a pocket chart and hide a snowman behind one of the cards. Students will take turns guessing a letter/number to find the hidden snowman. They can record letters/numbers guessed with a record sheet. Once the snowman is found, play again!
