Reading the Sight Word:

  • Students match the number rolled with the corresponding letter or sound on their worksheet.
  • Students read the letter or sound out loud.
  • Students should focus on pronouncing each letter or sound quickly and clearly.

Marking Progress:

  • Once students read the letter or sound, they should highlight or color the box. They could also cover it with a counter or place marker etc.
  • If students roll a number they have already completed, they should roll again until they land on a new letter.
  • Students continue rolling and reading until they have completed all the letters on their worksheets.

  • Players will take turns drawing a card from the pile and read the sight word. If the student is correct they can keep the card, and the next student takes a turn.
  • The object of the game is to have the most cards at the end of the game.
  • However, when a player gets the “BAM!” card, then they have to put all of their cards back in the pile. They keep the “BAM!” card.
  • If a student draws a “POW!” card that student loses a turn, but keeps the “POW!” card.
  • If a student draws a “WOW!” card that student gets to take another turn.

**Anybody can win the game, it is not just the best reader, because of the element of chance in the game. The game ends when all cards are gone.
