Game cards include pre-primer, primer, first grade, and second grade Dolch sight words, each marked for easy differentiation based on level. Download, print, laminate, and cut the cards and spinner. Students will spin and land on a number (one or two to practice as many words as possible). Some spaces say "draw 2." That means the student will draw and read two cards. On "action" spaces, you get to choose what the student can do. Use these spaces as an extra turn, lose a turn, or a battle! In a battle, each student can choose a card and attempt to read it. Directions

Rolling the Die:

• Students roll a six-sided die to determine which letter or sound they will read.
• Students can also scan the QR code on the worksheet using a device with a QR code scanner to access a virtual dice roller.

Reading the Sight Word:

• Students match the number rolled with the corresponding letter or sound on their worksheet.
• Students read the letter or sound out loud.
• Students should focus on pronouncing each letter or sound quickly and clearly.

Marking Progress:

• Once students read the letter or sound, they should highlight or color the box. They could also cover it with a counter or place marker etc.
• If students roll a number they have already completed, they should roll again until they land on a new letter.
• Students continue rolling and reading until they have completed all the letters on their worksheets.

Players: 2-4

Materials:

• Cut out and laminate pumpkins

Directions:

Place pumpkins in a pile. Students will pick two pumpkins and decide whether or not they are an uppercase and lowercase letter match (ex. A matches a). If the letters make a match the student takes those pumpkins and puts them in their pile. If the letters do not make a match the places them back into the pile. Then the next student takes a turn. The student with the most pumpkin pairs wins.
