Thank you for purchasing this resource from my TeachShare store. I appreciate your support and I hope it helps you in the classroom. My aim is to create resources that are accessible and easy to use.

I created this resources out of a need in my class to do quick and simple reading fluency activities that are decodable and aligned with the Science of Reading. As a result of hours of searching on the internet, I decided to make my own.

As I got into using these cute phonics cards in class, the students guided me to stretching out the resource even more to create a cute little packet for them to do a lot of the work on their own.

How we use this in class:

Students get their own whiteboard markers and erasers (we use socks from the dollar store…10 pairs for $1.25). Students insert pages into our plastic pouches and load a page on either side.

They set up a centre where 4 students work together. These cards mean they orally repeat the target sound while pointing to each letter. Next, they write out the letter sound themselves, all while saying the sound again. Then, finally, they decode the word, write in the dotted target sound.

And move onto the next.

Once they are done all 4 cards, students will erase their plastic folder and swap with another student.

My students in Grade 1 and 2 are very adept at this and are now at the stage that I can trust them to be working while I work with a small group.

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple sentence strips to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Sentences are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.

What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

Students participate in the story of Ron's Race Car Adventure by acting out action words. Follow along with Ron as he begins the race, struggles to keep the lead, and uncover whether he wins the race. Action words include: 1. waved 2. jumped up and down 3. climbed 4. dropped 5. turned the wheel right and left 6. mashed 7. raised their arms 8. dashed 9. wiped his brow 10. fell 11. waved 12. frowned 13. wrinkled his nose 14. shook his right fist 15. looked to the right 16. rolled eyes 17. pushed right foot down 18. lunged 19. cheered 20. shook hands Get active in the classroom and study action words at the same time! Engage students in stories that encourage physical activities to promote exercise and healthy lifestyles. Great for daily warm-ups, test days, and indoor rainy day fun. Students can use this blending board to "drive" small cars to each letter, stopping at the circles to state the letter sounds. Students can "drive" the cars faster or more slowly to practice blending sounds to make words.

⭐️ PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS ⭐️ PHONEMIC AWARENESS ⭐️ ELKONIN BOXES ⭐️

This fun and engaging deck of 20 CARDS will reinforce PHONEMIC AWARENESS SKILLS in students as they work independently to identify ENDING sounds.

Each card includes AUDIO of a clearly spoken PHONEME (sound) and three multiple-choice pictures with audio descriptions. Students are required to listen to the phoneme and select the picture with that phoneme in the FINAL position.

AUDIO is provided for all items and the first card provides DIRECTIONS with AUDIO. IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK is provided and students will be automatically directed to the next card once the correct answer has been chosen.

PHONEMIC AWARENESS, or the ability to MANIPULATE INDIVIDUAL SOUNDS OR PHONEMES within words, is a critical skill for children to learn prior to decoding and spelling.

Being able to successfully IDENTIFY, SUBSTITUTE, and DELETE PHONEMES in words is a PREDICTOR of future READING SUCCESS. Because phonemic awareness involves the sounds or phonemes in words, it does not include or require knowledge of alphabetic characters.

These task cards target the PHONEME ISOLOLATION tier in the hierarchy of phonemic awareness.
