Teaching students how to track words from left to right and use one-to-one correspondence is the first step in teaching them to read. By providing them with the ability to read the correct number of words on a page, we are preventing omissions and additions to sentences. This is the first step you should be taking with non-readers.

Spring short vowel mini set - Included is one of each of the activities featuring short a.

Students will write and wipe or use manipulative letters. Students will build letters using flower petals, tap out sounds with Mr. Frog, and slowly talk with Mr. Turtle. French Decodable Sentence Strips that align with the Science of Reading in the K-2 French classroom. Students work on their phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills and as they master the target sound.

Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Once children can recognize and understand individual sight words in print, they are ready to use them to build sentences. This is the exciting next step in the reading process and, for many children, the moment when they say, “I’m really reading!” The following scrambled sentences build upon sight word knowledge and are designed to help children learn—and demonstrate—sentence sense by putting individual words into the correct order so each sentence makes sense. The sight words used in these sentences follow the order in which they have been introduced. The sentences can be used in a number of ways, depending on each child’s developmental level. First, encourage the child to look for helpful sentence-sense clues, such as a capitalized word that would indicate the beginning of the sentence and a word with punctuation that would indicate the end of the sentence. Then, have the child say all the words aloud, starting with the capitalized word and ending with the punctuated word. Ask the child if what he or she said aloud makes sense, and, if necessary, encourage him or her to rearrange the “middle” words around while saying them aloud until they are in the correct order. Then, have the child write the unscrambled sentence on the line provided. You may want to encourage the child to write the sentence’s sight words in different-colored crayons or markers, or to use the sight word flash cards to find the matching words used in the sentence. You may also want to have the child write the unscrambled sentence on a separate sheet of paper and cut it apart into individual words. Then, using the child’s hand-written unscrambled sentence in the worksheet as a model, have him or her reassemble the cut-apart words into the sentence. This activity works well as a self- checking review. Or have the child distribute the cut-apart words to other children, who can then reassemble them in the correct order. An activity of this type can also be used with sentences that the children dictate or write themselves on a separate sheet of paper. Extending this activity to sentences that children compose themselves increases their level of engagement and provides an opportunity for individualizing their learning.

Cloze sentences provide young learners an opportunity to use words in context and to gain a better understanding of sentence sense. Use the cloze sentences on the following pages for children to practice selecting the correct word from the word boxes to complete each sentence.

To extend the activity, have children create their own sentences with a missing word. The sentences can also be copied on a separate sheet of paper, cut apart, and reconstructed for sentence sense practice.

These 3D Figures attribute digital and printable math emergent readers are designed to help students practice reading and math skills at the same time! This set includes All About Cones. These fun, engaging mini-books are great for distance learning. Plus they have printable, Google Slides™ and Seesaw versions included with bonus assessment pages!

This includes:

- All About Cones

Each book goes over:

- What is a 3D shape?

- How many faces, vertices, and edges?

- What real-world shape does it look like?

- Trace the word, type the word, trace the shape,

- Turn the shape into a picture

- An "I can cover all the cones", "I can count all the cones", "I can sort all the cones", and "I can follow the cones through the shape maze" assessment pages

EACH book has 2 versions

- a book with dots for students to be able to practice 1 to 1

- a book with no dots

Each unnumbered reader has:

• a black and white PDF version with 2 books to a page
• a color Seesaw version (links included to pre-uploaded books can be found in the READ ME FIRST file)
• a color Google Slides™ version of each book WITH audio*

Plus:

• A Parents Tips page with an editable version included
• Youtube™ Video directions with timestamps included that can be shared with students**

*Audio Sharing

If you are finding that the audio isn't working for you or your students, please use the link in the READ ME FIRST file to add the files directly to your Google Drive! Most districts will not allow someone outside of your district to share files with students. Some districts DO NOT allow audio that originated out of the district. If the link is not working for you please email me at TeachingWithCoffeeAndMascara@gmail.com so that I can send you the direct files.

This is not a zip file but instead a file in Google. You will need to have a google account to open this file. Inside you will find all of the items in either a pdf format or a google slide. TeachShare does NOT allow me to use subfolders to organize the items for you, please read the "READ ME FIRST" file to help you know what all is included in your download.
