I always have my kids create actions that go with the pictures. This allows them to be active while doing letter sounds! Research shows that adding movement to learning can also help in the retrieval and retention of information.

Coloring knights in armor keepsake bookmarks with cute dragons, castles, and swords, could be used as brain breaks, as rewards for students, or as a fun coloring activity at a party, could be added to letters or mailed with cards, or attached to gift baskets and goodie bags.

For best results print them on thick cardstock paper.

5. Letter Tracing: Use the flashcards as a template for letter tracing with a finger or marker.
6. Letter Sound Sort: Sort objects or pictures into piles based on the beginning sound of the items and the flashcards.
7. Alphabet Scavenger Hunt: Assign each letter to an object in the house. The child finds the object that matches the flashcard.
8. Word Building: Lay out several flashcards to create simple words. Have the child arrange the cards to spell the words.
9. Alphabet Relay Race: Place flashcards in a line. The child races to grab the correct flashcard as you call out letter sounds.
10. Alphabet Storytelling: Choose a few flashcards and create a story that includes the chosen letters in sequence.
