Whether it's in person or online, your students will LOVE this coffee-themed summarizing activity and printables set. Using the SWBST visual prompt strategy, students will learn and practice summarizing a story (ANY story!) by stating the main character, what the character wanted, the problem, the solution, and the resolution. This graphic organizer can be used for retelling any story. It includes lines for telling the beginning, middle, and End of a story and small picture box for each part.

The Chapter Book Response Sheets can be used with any chapter book. This product comes with 14 different response sheets-students can complete a response sheet after each chapter or after several chapters. These response sheets are ideal for Literature Circles, Independent Read, Homework, etc. Each response sheet focuses on different concepts that are aligned with Common Core. Below are suggestions for the use of the Chapter Book Response Sheets:

Literature Circles- Students can use the response sheet after each chapter or every couple of chapters. The concepts covered can be used as discussion pieces during Literature Circle.

Independent Read- Students can use these response sheets to keep their reading skills and memory fresh while reading a chapter book. They can keep their response sheets in order and have a study guide to look back on at the end of the book.

Homework- Students can be assigned one or more chapters, and do a response sheet for homework.

Need a great, easy-to-use reading log? This was successfully used for many years when we had a time slot cut out for a 30-minute reading time each day. Students earn points towards rewards such as homework passes, computer time, or have your students earn point each six weeks or quarter for a special movie day event.

Print these fun bookmarks on colored or white cardstock and provide them to your students. The goal is to challenge the students to read and keep up with the number of books they read. Once they have finished a book, they are to color it to reflect they have finished the book.
